I'm supposed to make you mod of the Southampton board aint I I've a massive 'to-do' list, I'll get some done while downing a bottle of whiskey when I get home from work tonight
Nothing at all .. Very user friendly site! Maltese Mick - Offers there: If you want me to MOD Southampton I'm happy to help
I'm happy to lend a hand with ideas and/or MODding. Doesn't look as though we will get the horse racing forum over from 606 though. One of their problems is not being able to get on from work. New sites are proliferating. I can keep my eye open and report back. I like this site and I've been promoting it and comparing it favourably with other sites. My only worry is there appears to be no external funding which could restrict development; and development may be necessary to fend off some of the developers yet to show their hand. I suspect that the ones that mean business will come along later with something out of the mould that most are following.
I've had various offers of 'external funding' most of which intend to commercialise while taking advantage of the lead we have over the other solutions - I've knocked them all back as I have my own ideas. I don't have a massive pot of money but I'm willing to invest a decent amount, we've already got a very powerful dedicated server and I've got the guy who designed http://www.thisisanfield.com/ working on a new design which should be ready next week. I'm a programmer by trade so I've got my own thoughts of new functionality I want to get integrated also which I can program myself. It all takes time of course but a lot of people seem content with how far we've got so far. In terms of horse racing, it's one my favourite sports I worked on course in Ireland for a few years before trading horse racing for a betting firm based in Malta for a few years. I've had my head out of the full-time game for the last year or so but still keep an eye on things. I've got one or two industry friends who have volunteered to write articles about racing also
I have to say, the whole design & architecture here looks really good & really pro. Yes, future development, popularity, staffing & "business" model all take forward planning & will set a few challenges, but so far I think you're well on the right track. (Yay! Rennes just beat PSG. Crucial. 1-0 )
May I add to this, thanking Maltese Mick, for a great site. I joined, like the rest of us Stokies, when I head BBC 606 was closing down... Brilliant forum, very friendly, easy to use, active, lots to do, great. And yes, I advertise on my Twitter
