An article about Simmo's possibly going to London.
He'll leave with my blessing and a big thankyou for all the effort he has put in.
Not the most gifted of players but he gave his all.

Fulham, QPR and West Ham are set to battle for the signature of Newcastle right-back Danny Simpson, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The 26-year-old is thought to be surplus to requirements at St James’ Park, following the arrival of Mathieu Debuchy from Lille, and could be allowed to leave this January.

West Ham are rumoured to be leading the race for his signature, with manager Sam Allardyce being a long-term admirer of the ex-Manchester United man.

However, he may face competition from Fulham, who are keen to strengthen their defensive options, and QPR, who are looking to spend in order to avoid relegation.

A potential stumbling block could be Simpson’s current injury status. The full-back suffered a broken toe in the Magpies’ 7-3 defeat against Arsenal, and is not expected to return to first-team action until late January at the earliest.

Simpson was consistent performer under Alan Pardew last term as Newcastle secured qualification for the Europa League.

But, the club are believed to be willing to allow him to leave after an underwhelming start to the new campaign.

He is gone, which is a dissapointement, as I quite like Simpson, and he is a good solid 'back up' defender now we have Debuchy in. Hanging on to him would helped strenghthen the depth of the squad, if not exaclty improve the quality. But cest la vie.

I was hoping he would stay. He's probably our best defensive fullback. Santon is far better as an all round player, and has more potential, but Simpson reads the game better, and is a much better fullback than Perch also.

I was hoping he'd stay, but the fact that he's leaving us to be first choice is fair enough.

Good player but the writing is on the wall. I do think he'll wait till the summer when he'll pick up a better wage. This toe injury should not prevent any move though. Got loads of time for him. Puts in 100% and we always seem to defend better as a team when he's in it. Not great individually but, unsurpringly with his schooling knows, what teamwork is all about.

Summed it up for me as well. Can't wait to see the last of Willo as well, albeit with decent replacements of course.

So all we can ever do as a club under Ashley is swap players?? We enter the window needing at least 3 regardless of departures - just like we did in August - then immediately lose 1 and look like swapping Simpson for Debuchy. So the purchase of Remy (if it happens) is another swap.

We did exactly the same in the Summer; Guthrie out, Amalfiwho in, Lovenkrands out, Marveaux in, Best out, Anita in. Bollox to this purple player crap, do we have a set roster of players or something? Looks a bit freaking dodgy if you ask me. Certainly there seems to be very little understanding or concept of what it takes to have a capable squad. We have "purple" and "development", with nothing in between. Yes, the board are questioned, but more and more I cast dubious glances at Pardew.
