After a £130m spend, £purs seem further behind Arsenal and Chelsea than ever. Will they ever get CL football again?
Of course they will. What is needed is not related to money, but to personnel. Firing the manager before seasons end was about as dumb as it gets, and Sherwood is proving that week by week. The next manager in needs to get some ground rules in place and keep the ****ers on the Board right out of things, just like Jose did with us. And have no doubts that is what happened here. Gourley and co are now the invisible men, and we can all see the difference. Call it tough love, but until this happens at Spurs, history will repeat. The Spurs owner must be realising his input is pissing against the wind, and he didn't become rich by being a dope.
do you think they can get back in CL soon? Their squad, stadium and personnel all need fixing. That costs a lot of money. Any new manager will want his own players and staff, that costs
looking at the top 4 now and got to think Man U will improve next season would think it might be a while till Spurs qualify for the CL
£130m? Last year we "spent" a net minus £5m - or don't leaving players count? We were roundly condemned as a one man team last season, so clearly a major rebuild was needed. CP talks his usual good sense, we are a decent manager away from competing again. Whether we'll get one is another matter.
Spurs have got a long way to go to catch up. They are on the slide again after 'Arry got them playing decent football and flirting with the top four. But in classic Spurs style they ****ed it and dismantled everything that they had built. Replaced good players with average ones, competent managers with rank amateurs and pissed a **** load of cash up the wall in the process. They are a club infected with failure, it's their default. Even when they look like they might make the break through they find new and inventive ways to **** it up
Can't see spurs getting a one off top 4 spot within the next few years, let alone consistent CL football. And with both Arsenal and Chelsea both currently title contenders and in a position to improve there teams in the summer, i don't see how spurs could overtake either team anytime soon.
Your delusion is strong. You need a decent manager and several new players to compete again in the short term, and a new stadium in the long term (as do we)
All true, and it won't happen next season. However they are still on the fringes of top 4 with all the problems they have had, and the sale of Gareth Bale, so they are not coming from the bottom of the heap. With someone like Van Gaal in charge, and properly in charge, the sale of some players and purchase of a few, they should be close next year. Not all the spurs players are hopeless, but they really need direction , focus and a long term plan. We were not too dissimilar ,and Jose has done exactly that. We're on the way, Spurs can be too though it's a big jump even from 4th to the top.
No, they dont. We are talking about the amount of money spent to improve your team. If you spend £130m on a football team, generally your aim is to improve it. No one gives a **** about how Spurs are balancing their books, or how they got the money to buy these players. We are talking in footballing terms, and in footballing terms, AVB spent £130m and your club has stood still or one could argue, have even gone backwards.
Well we both play with 11 men, ( and sometimes 9 ) but our 11 are of a higher standard than theirs ,no doubt. And the comparison does end there. They will also struggle to get a manager with the right credentials. If they were bottom table things would be different. Can they get CL next season?? Yes they can. Will they?? Who knows??
