Also, the company that supplied the cladding for the other tower blocks sell 3 different types of cladding, two of which are fire resistant.

"The cladding used is believed to have been sourced from US-based Reynobond.

The firm makes three types of panel: one with a flammable polyethylene core and two with more fire-resistant cores sandwiched between two thin aluminium skins."

Hopefully a swift check will be carried out and any tower block with these installed should be evacuated and taken down. Also any council that have approved this should hold their heads in shame, whatever political party they are with.

Been told by someone in the know that the gas main was the source of the fire and not the cladding.

That might well be the cause, but it was clear from the video footage that the plastic cladding was the accelerator, by the way the cladding used on Grenfell Tower is 'Banned' in Germany, why is that?...... <ok>

Typical Tory scum......They have been in power for 7 years and made so many cuts that people lose track and when anything goes wrong they always try to blame the last Labour party..<doh> The people are not buying it and have woken up to the fact that the Tory cuts on everything are beginning to hurt and the BS they sprout is being questioned as only benefits the rich.......Tories out and keep the pressure on and force another G. E...in the autumn.....

I stated either earlier on this thread or the election thread that building regs in this country are not adiquate, that link proves the point, unbelievable that they are allowed to fit flammable material, but then why spend more money for the safety of the poor?.......... <ok>

There are at least another 20 of these Tower blocks in London alone with this cladding, how much of a risk does this now pose for an easy soft target for Muslim terrorist attack? There needs to be an imediate evacuation of all these tower blocks, they are not only a fire trap but a terrorist dream.

Explosion due to gas main?
No reports or signs on images indicate such.
Maybe you would like to further your information or your person(s) in the know.
People are waiting answers.
So,excuse me here why did the fire seem to be on the outside?

Londoner's view

This removal of ordinary people from the heart of London has lead to it becoming a duller place, especially a duller place to live in, what i love about cities on the continent such as Paris, Rome, Lisbon or Berlin is that they still have their actual working class citizens living in the centre as do other British cities like Glasgow, most of central London's working classes have been moved 10 miles or more out into the suburbs and the counties. London is not a city without it's people, do people want a slick city with just rich peoples houses, offices and chain cafes? i hope not.

I've lived in tower hamlets the last 12 years and it's getting whiter and whiter by the day, (not that it didn't historically get browner and browner I suppose), but the emptiness of the new influx is quite strange, like people on escalators in shopping centres, just drifting through time and space. Communities getting squeezed out. I'll be squeezed out soon. Life is change, but more thought and care needs to be used to control how these areas are having the life sucked out of them.

The bottom line is that London, and indeed the rest of the misleadingly titled UK, is not run for the residents, but for a cabal of the rich, the 'developers', the rentiers, international financiers, foreigners who have the money to buy property here but use it as an investment or an occasional third home.

The Tories often crow that they are the party of patriotism, but the reality is they hate most of the country; the tiresome poor, the unruly Scots, the chippy Northerners. They like their shires, their super rich ghettoes in Notting Hill and Cheshire, and very little else.

Currently, their contempt is on display.

Let's just call him Boris.

Boris also said emergency service vehicles were looted by locals.

I just read this, I know people wont believe it as it against what tthey believe or want to believe. still thought I would put it on here.

1. The block of flats was run not by the Council but by KCTMO. This body is made up of 8 TENANTS, 4 councilors and 3 independent members.

2 Labour hold the seat that the block is situated in.

3 Labour run the London Council who manage the under funded London Fire Service

4 Emma Coad the sitting Labour MP for that ward also sat on the KCTMO.

5 The advice to stay put which Sadiq Khan has been so vocal about was given by the London Fire Service.

6 The decision to change contractors during the refurb was made by KCTMO.

7 The decision not to spend an additional £138k on fitting sprinklers was again KCTMO.

8 The decision to create ALMO organisation such as the KCTMO was made under the Right To Manage legislation passed in 2002
as part of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act.

9 This was put in place to give leaseholders and tenants a greater say and the ability to self manage, which in some circumstances has clearly proven to be flawed.

10 Which Govt was in a charge when this law was passed? It was Labour.

11 Sadiq Khan as mayor of London Produced a report to say that the fire service did not need further funding.

12 Emma Coad elected Labour MP was on the board of the Tenant Management group who are being accused of not listening to tenants.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone....

What does it matter how the fire started it has exposed the poor standard of materials used and lack of proper fire doors and no proper alarm system and no sprinkler system......How the fire started will be known by now and it has exposed that the poor were housed and are still housed in sub standard buildings and must be rehoused and the buildings demolished...nothing else will do...

Yet another terrorist attack in north London this time and this was targeting Muslims. This is really getting out of hand now as it is clear that there is an organization determined to cause a civil war of sorts between our multicultural country....I just watched an interview between Pier's Morgan and Michael Gove and even though i welcomed the questions by Pier's i was not happy with his attitude towards Gove with his personal attacks. I may hate the Tories with a passion but this interview was painful to watch and i felt sorry for Gove as pier's laid into him and insulted him when he was trying to answer his questions.......I'm all for difficult questions but i deplore making it a personal attack.....Pier's in my view should be reprimanded by ITV and say sorry to Gove for the way he conducted the interview....Just because i'm a left wing socialist i dont want to see when you interview any politician of any party with disrespect....

I heard Gove being interviewed on Radio 5 this a.m.and he was asked a question numerous times and waffled and waffled until the female interviewer just gave up in exasperation.

Gove is a bum, a tory bum, and if Morgan kicked him around the studio because he wouldn't answer questions, good for him, I say.

Politicians need to realise that they have a DUTY to answer questions as clearly and lucidly as is possible. Otherwise keep out of the Radio/TV studios.
