Apparently Cabaye is heading to London for a Palace medical ahead of a £10m move.

Would love him to come back here but good luck to him.

The only issue I ever had was when he took the piss and went on strike.

The good footballing moments outweigh that one incident though.

Agree with you on that one Chippy.

"I would love it if we could beat them. Love it. Pardew's gone down in my estimation. Palace haven't won this yet, I'd love it if we beat them."

Apparently a 12 million bid by Palace for Cabaye! And the player to decide if he wants the move.
Similarly gossip saying Palace to enter the bIdding war for Charlie Austin also.
I know we can't compete with the likes of Chelski and the Mancs, but surely to God we should not be being outdone by the likes of Palace, West Ham et al.

Looks like it's a done deal. Pity cause at 10 million he'd be a good buy. Can only assume the management don't want him back after his strike threat when he was with us.

10M? He is an absolute steal at that. He isn't 30 until January. If you got 4 good years out of him, you'd be laughing. Fair enough resale is a problem, but sometimes the here and now has to be dealt with too. Palace are putting together a tidy side, just like the others around us. I hope we are aware of the challenge we face for mid table security this season.

FFS how can we let palace sign him, yeah he's 29 but if we sign him for 10mil that's still a sweet 9mil profit so park the whole need to buy young players to sell for profit and sign him.

    Rant over

It simply won't happen with Cabaye or anyone else of note.
Look at it from a players point of view, who have we secured thus far to signal intent....... No bugger
Who would the likes of Cabaye, Austin, Matip, wijneldum (sic) Thauvin and Uncle Tom Cobbly and all be playing alongside to inspire success and evidence ambition...... No bugger except the sorry rabble who almost got relegated last season.
The club should have made a marque signing early on to signal intent and ambition, that would have paved the way for other to think, "okay, just maybe" any player looking at the club simply sees business as usual and you can't blame them for saying, thanks, but no thanks.
We or should l say they appear to have got it wrong yet again.
They really are leaving it far too late when you consider the number and quality of new players this club needs.

    Not so.

Rumours are that he is wanting £100,000 pw as wages.Depending upon length of contract that comes to a fair sum.

I would agree we don't go for him if those are the terms. Also wouldn't go for him because of his spitting his dummy out when he was here but wanting to leave.

It's clear he has no ambition anymore. Let him rot at Palace. The **** is dead to me.

The problem I have is that everyone is always fixated on numbers, especially the morons at our club. It's all so very irrespective, because the risks outweigh the costs by such a huge magnitude. Our plight is made all the more idiotic by the fact the club has 10's of millions CASH in the fecking bank. Charnley, I'm afraid, hasn't got a clue. That's me being kind, 'cos I'm in a good mood.

He is not worth £100k per week now. He's nearly 30 don't forget.

If it's a choice between Cabaye and Wijnaldum you'd have to say the latter is the best option. Cabaye has been poor for PSG, admittedly he's not played much but when he has he was often subbed due to poor performances.

We need pace in the team, if we signed Cabaye we'd have Colback, Cabaye, De Jong, Anita, Abeid, Tiote that all play centrally and none of them have any pace. I'm not fussed about missing out on him, he was a great player for us but they say "don't go back" for a reason.

He will not be paid 100k per week by Palace or anyone else. That is just purely paper talk, agent fishing etc. Palace aren't going to commit that sort of financial suicide. He will earn a pretty penny and rightly so, he is a top international footballer. If he gets anything over 60k-70k I'd be massively surprised. He did act like a spoilt brat over the move, but at least he accepted his punishment like a man, accepted he was wrong and was a pro about the whole thing. He could have just went on a strike like some others...

I love that people don't want him, yet he is better than every midfielder we have or have been linked with.

Now now Albert, you can't pretend wanting a reunion with Pards won't play a part. Remember how much Cabaye likes Pards and his coaching. This is documented fact not fiction

He would walk into 3/4 of Prem teams and he's going there, with no one else bidding. So wierd. Nothing makes sense anymore

Cabaye is a good player, in an area we need to improve upon (as we never replaced him). £10 million for a 29 year old isn't going to happen with this board though, he doesn't fit the new signing profile anymore.

I don't think Palace will get 3/4 years out of him like, more like 1/2 then he'll be back at some small french club as the marque signing for a fiver. Financially, it's not very sensible, however in terms of putting a quality football team together, when you have the chance to buy a fantastic midfielder for £10 million, you don't give a **** about resale.

Unfortunately, Palace are in the business of putting together a quality football team, and our club is in the business of, well, business...
