Apparently Mick & Marcus are still some distance apart on our summer transfer policy & wage structure. This is stalling negotiations with possible new signings. The two are set for another meeting over the next week or two to hopefully close the gap between them. I am not that sure of the reliability of this story or source but he has been right on a few things coming out of PR in the past. I for one hope it is all rumours hearsay etc before the real nitty gritty of summer moves gets under way come July 1st. There has been talk of this on TWTD so there may be some substance to it, I sure hope I am wrong though.!
I hope so too Hoppers! Mind you we got the Cole Skuse deal done very quickly and the Tabb and Murphy deals done last week so hopefully this is all wide of the mark!
I heard all this talk of a £5k a week wage cap for new players and to be honest it's total bollocks! Can you imagine Jay Tabb settling for just 5K a week!
Somebody tell me a manager who is happy with a transfer budget! give a manager £5 million he would want 10, give him 10, then he would want 20. etc etc etc.
No smoke without fire? We are getting some freebies in who are probably not over excessive in their wage demands but who knows what's going on if Mick is asking about players who are commanding a fee plus wages. It could just be paper talk, continuing the rumours that the manager (whoever it is at the time) and Marcus can't agree on transfers or it could be that there is some truth in it.
I think Mick would be pretty dim to think that we have millions to splash out on players, I would probably expect a possible stearman deal is creating the problems, Mick wants him, Marcus doesn't want to splash the cash.
Like most teams now we probably have to sell to have extra funds for signing new players. Recently we haven't had anyone worth selling and I think that's where the problem lies. Southampton seem to have the knack of bringing quality through their academy that they then cash in on.
I think if the matter was a big problem the likes of Tabb and Skuse( when i say the likes of Tabb and Skuse i mean Tabb and Skuse) would not have agreed to sign.................... i'm sure they spoke to the manager prior to signing.
