I'd seen the interviews with Mr Fernandes just after he bought out Bernie and Flavio and he was asked a question about the ground & the clubs financial position. His answer was to say we'd be staying at Loftus Road for the near future but would be in the hands of Hammersmith & Fulham Council regarding any move. The intimation was that if we went anywhere it would only be to somewhere local and the Council planners would have the final say. What I think got missed was the status of the ground and if Fernandes/Mittal ownership of the club included owning the land, the ground and all that goes with it. Do we (the club) own the ground? Have all the debts from previous administrations been cleared as part of our recent buy out? Old 606ers may have a bit more info, I recall previous threads regarding Briatore not actually clearing our debts when he bought the club. Looks like Fernandes is putting his money where his mouth is regarding the transfer market so I have no reason to doubt him but is there any debt still hanging over us? Over to you lovely people to clarify (I hope)
I think third party debts have been cleared with our owners' loans on a 0% interest rate. Amit Bhatia recently confirmed the loans would stay in place for the time being. I have always worked on the basis that QPR Holdings owns the freehold of the club unencumbered...
what i don't understand is the sudden urge to move to a bigger stadium despite the fact that loftus road provides one of the best atmospheres of all the stadiums i've been to. not sure about the ownership situation but in my eyes it would be a great shame to lose LR.
As intense as the stadium can be on match days, unfortunately its just so outdated. The seats are so small, they havent evolved the leg room inherited by modern day man. I dont think there is a rush to move, but if we become an established PL Club then I believe we will. I dont for one minute believe we need a huge stadium, 30k max I would have though with space available to extend if required. Unfortunately the Loft can be neither extended and renovating it too much would be like throwing money away.
The sooner we move to a new ground the better. I love the atmosphere and the fact i'm so close to the pitch in the Paddock but hate getting wet in the winter.
cheers northolt. it might have just come with the rush of the transfer deadline but i keep noticing talk of a new stadium. i agree that the loft is outdated but i cant help but fear that a new stadium would lessen the sense of atmosphere at games. it definitely happened at coventry when the move from highfield road took place. for the time being let's concentrate on transfers hey!
