Just saw Cliff Jones in my local, down for the Spurs game.
Also see Mel Nurse and Mel Charles in pubs around here regular...
    I live in the Sandfields.

Do you think any of the current crop will still be living (or back and for) to the local area?
Will we one day be able to enjoy a pint and a chat with the likes of Michu?
Or is it not feasible now with so little local boys in the team?

If the answer is yes, who do you think will hang around?
If no, is this a shame and would we feel stronger about the team if there was 3/4 local boys in the first XI?

I think the likes of Rangel and Leon will stay in the area. Aren't they both married/with local girls?

I think the area has been well known for the ex-pro's staying here. They all turn out for the post office team then dont they !! lol

Think tate, monk and britts will stay. maybe rangel will go back to the sunshine with his wife perhaps? he probably has a home there now.
Its not called the graveyard of ambition for nothing y'know !!

I don't know him so I can't comment one way or the other. He could play, though, and would have walked into this team on one of his bad days.

I think its very difficult to work out if a footballer from the 70's / 80's could do as well today. LJ could beat a player thats true but its so hard to compare, would he have had disipline to become a top athlete ? would he have even made it into a football club with his size? i know it sounds daft but many good players were left behind because they wernt built like brick **** houses, they are coming back in vogue now though.

I don't think it's difficult in this case, Norway. I see no reason to doubt that LJ would have had the discipline because top footballers, mostly, do what is required to be a top footballer. And he was one. Period.

Yes, he could beat a man, as you say, and with ease as it happens, but he could also shoot accurately from distance, took penalties and free kicks and had an astute footballing brain. His goals for us, playing as a winger, is testament to that and who could forget the amazing partnership he formed with Jimmy down our left flank?

Like him as a person or not, he was undeniably, a top, top player and Michael Laudrup would have just loved him in his team. I don't understand your point about his size though. He was of average build and much bigger than Leon and Dyer. I'll try and google that out of interest.
