    I don't think this one has been done before so apologises in advance if it has;

    Just be interested in views and a list of ALL loan players Peter Taylor has brought in. Whether still with the club or back with their contracted team.

    Then separately I would interested in views and a list of any players still with the club that Martin Allen brought in. Only one's still with the club in this section, UNLESS PT let them go.

    Ideally for both aspects, I'd be interested in length of loan period, appearances whether starts or from bench, goals scored if applicable and views on general overall performance.

    Links where possible to their time with us for players that have gone, would be useful but not a essential.

    thanks.

    Well the people that Taylor have brought in on loan are:

    John Mousinho - Preston North End (Returned through injury and loaned to Stevenage)
    Donvervon Daniels - West Bromwich Albion (Returned)
    Elliott Hewitt - Ipswich Town (Current)
    Jack Marriott - Ipswich Town (Returned and loaned to Woking)
    Connor Smith - Watford (Current)
    Joe Pigott - Charlton Athletic (Current)
    Ryan Innis - Crystal Palace (Current)

    I didn't realise it was that many until I went through the filing cabinet.

    Don't think I can pick any of them out as failures to be honest would have liked to have seen more of Donavon Daniels but apart from that all of them served their purpose well. Better than the farce that was the signings of Ryan Williams and Michael Richardson last year!

    What is the point of this? Loan players are signed for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes a player is "borrowed" to cover a long term absentee (eg Harriman for Fish). Sometimes you sign someone with specific experience (eg a track record of achieving promotion or avoiding relegation). Often you try to enhance the ability of the squad (and they promptly get returned if they are no better than what you have got). Sometimes you sign a loanee with a view to making a permanent signing and the assessment does not necessarily mean appearing in the first team. Gills signings fit all these categories and often the most important issue is to be decisive and send the loanee back as soon as their suitability has been assessed.
