As a lower league club, do you think the loaning of 'reserve' players from a higher club is a good thing or not? If you think it is a good thing, have you any ideas who would be on your wish list
I think it can certainly help you out to maintain stability during difficult times, although i see it broader as loans from any club not just those from a higher league 'reserve' and i certainly have no time for Pampers League second teams. If someone can fill a position that fits with the standard of ability you currently have then it covers times of injury. However, we should be developing our own youth, which we do, and maintaining our own more experienced youth players and not doing a MadDog. We are now trying to fill gaps for positions that we previously had the players for and that were more than able...Essam, Evans, Jackman, even Payne and Gazza if you like but i understand the financial reasons for the latter and Nelson is England's number one anyway...probably the best player MA brought in. As for who would be on my list now...where shall i start!
Simple answer yes, Most lower league clubs are strapped for cash and so a small core of 15 senior professionals helps the budget, this could then be topped up with 4/5 loan players as and when required. It also allows for loans if form is not looking good, if your struggling to score, bring in a loan striker, leaking in defence, bring in a defender, large clubs have the money to operate with squads of 60+ players so it makes sense to save our money and use their players as and when required. Also by carrying smaller squads would allow better quality (higher wages) in the players you have got under contract. brb, this is not considering the youth which is a separate argument and one in which I agree with you.
