Rather outrageous. The Rangers manager has been told by board that the 6 players loaned by Newcastle to Rangers must be played. The manager being grilled by press and looking very uncomfortable. What will the other Rangers' players feel....they have limited chance to play.

The curse of Cashley strikes again! He's going to turn them into a mediocre, under-performing but profitable team, just like Newcastle! Shame as under his tenure I doubt Rangers will ever become the force they once were.

Ashley is using Rangers like he is using Newcastle and that is to promote Sports Direct. Trophies and success don't bother him unless he wanted to expand into Europe. I suspect he plans to use Rangers to promote Sports Direct in Europe. It is cheaper to get Rangers in to Europe than Newcastle. He is a lot smarter than what he gets credit for. You don't become a billionaire by being stupid.

As a business model it is very good but you wouldn't want your club used in this way :emoticon-0130-devil

It's actually common practise for a PL team to require loanees to be played or at least selected in the matchday squad, otherwise what's the point of loaning players out for experience. The Rangers situation is farcical overall but I think the press are making a little more of this than is strictly necessary. And besides, if PL reserves aren't better players than Scottish Championship ones then our scouting network needs some revision!

Big difference between fitting in 1 player and fitting in 5 (or 6?). This will take over and disrupt the whole team....believe me their manager looked sick. He is being made to look a fool. He was asked what he would do if they didn't play well....he replied in an uncertain voice, 'Well, I hope I'm allowed to sub them.' Teams may want you to play their loanees, but it is not unknown for this not to happen...they then lump it or request their return. This seems to have gone beyond the usual gentlemen's understanding.

It's a total joke but so is everything at the club. Until the board are sacked and people running the club only have clubs best interest at heart and not lining their own pockets nothing will change

If he turns them into a profitable side, underperformance or not, then Rangers fans should be grateful. A stint of financial security will not be a bad thing and so what if it means they won't get back to the top as quickly as they'd want. Tough. They have come close to having no club at all. They have no define right to be at the top.

You do what? Have a define right to be at the top? Really? Never had you as arrogant. Passionate Laura, yes, but not arrogant. No one has that right.

read the context of my quote and the post I replied to, (people don't do that). The previous post said Ashley will make it profitable. My point is not The focus of Ashley's interest, but that IF he does make it profitable, it would be a better position than the financial irregularities and crooks that have been running the club recently.

Are you suggesting that you should be allowed to get back to the top by going back to the financial irregularities?

On an aside, one of those young Newcastle players (with the difficult to spell surname) was signed from Coventry. He played against us as an 17/18 year old on the day we went up and I remember thinking he looked like he could be a good player. He went to Neecastle that summer, but doesn't seem to have had a chance. Maybe my scouting eye is broken :(

I agree that Rangers don't have a divine right to be at the top...it has to be earned, but, until recently, there were virtually only 2 teams in Scotland and Rangers were rich. There must have been some serious wrongdoing for Rangers to end up in the situation they've been in recently. Ashley knows money and has put Newcastle in a good financial position...if he does the same for Rangers, they should be grateful in the short term and worry about the football side when they stop teetering on the edge of complete annihilation.

Old Glasgow Rangers have been completely annihilated - they don`t exist any more. Pity they haven`t had all the trophies they `won` during all the years they were cheating struck from the record books.

Ok, but why the anti-Ashley comments? From what I know, a period of financial steadiness would not go a miss.

Scraping the barrel, Laura. I had no idea you were so bitter. I`m not a Celtic fan, although I have liked their style for generally playing attacking football over the years.

He's another one only out to line his own pockets. Ashley and his goons, have no interest in rangers football club past their own self interest like everyone in last 3 years

Laura - old Glasgow Rangers don`t exist anymore, right? That`s their own doing. What club are you on about ? Why keep bringing Neil Simpson into it ? Have you met him ? I have, and a thoroughly nice person he is. He made one bad tackle (and it was a bad tackle), that of course he regrets. Can you describe another bad tackle he made ?. Ian Durrant went on to have many years as a player. Souness made a career out of unsavoury tackles (Sigi Jonsson, Laura ?)
The animosity that has existed between Rangers and Aberdeen dates to long before the Simpson-Durrant era - Junky Johnston standing on John McMaster`s throat, for one example.
Please be better informed before spouting nonsense.
