I see other teams are making loan recalls, such as WBA & Everton, is there a case out there we should recall to help our own cause, such as Shawn McCoulsky (Striker),Joe Morrell (Midfield), Taylor Moore (Defence). We are suffering badly with lack of numbers, surely we could ease some of our problems.
Media Watch - January 3rd Wednesday, January 3rd 2018 Here's a round-up of the latest online and newspaper media coverage about City. The Bristol Post and Birmingham Mail feature comments from West Brom manager Alan Pardew, who discussed the reasons for why Jonathan Leko was recalled from his loan spell in BS3. BBC Sport reports on City’s Shawn McCoulsky extending his loan deal at Newport County until the end of the season. The Post suggest Leeds United are keen on signing FC Groningen striker Mimoun Mahi during the January transfer window - a player City were reportedly interested in during the summer. Meanwhile, Belgian reports believe Standard Liege have ended their interest in midfielder Robin Lod - another rumoured target. The Panathinaikos international has rejected a new deal at his club, as highlighted by the Post. These stories have been reproduced from today's media. It does not necessarily represent the position of Bristol City FC
Leko looked a talent when he first arrived, but struggled afterwards. Players returning from injury will finally give us more options, but definitely room for one or two others to come in. The last two games have been real sickeners, but in the context of how many players have been out, how many games we've played and how good a run we've still had I think there's still cause for optimism and pride in where we're at. I'm a bit concerned by rumours that Flint will be gone by the end of the window. When the season started and it looked like he was on his way, I was ok with it, as I thought he had flaws and signing Baker as a replacement made sense. Looking back now though, he's been immense for us, as much for his influence as his performances (as long as he's not played up front!), so unless there's an underlying reason why he ought to be moved on (I suspect there are clubs out there willing to dramatically increase his wages) and/or we receive a massive bid, I hope he sticks around. I would never call to full-on 'throw' a Cup tie, but as many players as feasibly possible probably ought to be rested for Watford. It'll be interesting to see what kind of line-up they put out, but I suspect a stronger one than when we played them in the League Cup. Fans of middle/lower clubs justifiably want their sides to take Cup competitions seriously, as it's the only feasible way they'd win silverware (Leicester style miracle aside), coupled with a dash of wanting some revenge, means there'll be a pressure on them to progress.
