Out on loan: Billy Paynter - Brighton: made eight appearances (about six full games' worth of football including three starts). Scored none. Will Hatfield - Accrington: apparently shown some good signs in attacking midfield, but little info is available. Alex Bruce - Huddersfield: lost 0-1 in his debut against Bournemouth. Paul Rachubka - Tranmere: lost 2-0 and 3-0 in his two appearances. So not exactly living up to the Beckfords, Sommas and Nunezes of the recent past. Anyone got any further info about any of this lot? Wish I knew some Huddersfield fans so I could wind them up about Bruce.
Don't go crediting Bruce with ending Huddersfields unbeaten record as he didn't play the Charlton match. Still he lost them their unbeaten home record in 2011 so credit where credit's due.
ESPN online says he did play at Charlton. Weird, just checked the BBC and you're right LDS. Will amend my post.
Town make me laugh when they started the "unbeaten (that wasnt unbeaten)" run of 43 games they where 2 points off top spot after this amazing "unbeaten (that wasnt unbeaten)" run they where 7 points off top! how is that a good run? id rather lose 5 out of 10 but win 5 than draw 10
what about the performances of our loans in: keogh: started amazingly, was everything we needed early season, dropped off recently due to his lack of natural goal scoring ability. was class v millwall the other week tho. 2 goals isnt an acceptable goal return for a striker but he played a massive part in mccormacks early season goal rush pugh: his versatility has helped alot. played in 3 positions v millwall, chipped in with 2 goals. nothing spectacular but has done ok odea: was very dodgy early on but grew into a solid performer before his nightmare v cardiff. out of favour at the moment but could earn a recall if paddy continues to give goals away. also has 2 vital goals to his name. mccarthy: was a master stroke bringing him in. cant help feeling if he'd have been here to replace lonners as soon as he got injured we'd be 4 or 5 points better off. has saved us in numerous games in particular v burnley. only mistakes were v barnsley- 1 was a fierce, swerving shot and the other he lost his footing so he can be forgiven. glad to see the loans been extended
Keogh has overall been a good loan signing. He came at a time when we were struggling upfront and needed a player who could link up play. Was very important early on, but his stay at the club shouldn't be extended. Pugh has been incredibly average, but we needed a player like him in our squad. O'Dea has been overall a poor signing. 2 or 3 good games, a load of average uncommanding performances, a horror mistake against Cardiff and since then has done nothing. The 2 goals he scored don't cancel out the ones he has been at fault for or contributed to conceding with poor positioning. McCarthy has been great from what I've read on here. Haven't been to a game since October, so I've missed his performances considering none were on TV, but sounds quality.
Burnley was on TV. I'd say our loans this season have been a great success compared to previous seasons. ONly McCarthy really stands out but they have all brought something to the squad.
If Rachubka had played against us earlier in the season then I think that really would have made it an exciting battle. Thankfully at least Gulacsi has improved a lot since then otherwise we would be buggered right now.
Apparently Taylor was played at left-mid and didn't do too well for the taxi-drivers. Rachubka's extended his stay at Tranmere till the end of the season. Thank ****.
