Hello and welcome to the third edition of Loan Watch. Loan Watch is a feature in which I will be updating everyone with how the players Kenny Dalglish sent out on loan are doing. Currently we have eight players out on loan. They are David Amoo, Alberto Aquilani, Joe Cole, Stephen Darby, Nathan Eccleston, Peter Gulacsi, Jonjo Shelvey and Dani Pacheco.

David Amoo: David was sent on loan on Bury in September. He played 4 games for the Shakers and scored his only goal for them in a 3-1 victory against Yeovil. Bury decided to extend the deal until January 2012.

To be honest, i'm not sure about David. He's played 1 game for us in the Europa League and seems to be sent out on loan a lot. He's got a contract until the end of the season and I would be surprised if it was renewed.

Alberto Aquilani: Alberto was sent out on loan to AC Milan for a season. He has played 5 games for Milan and scored his only goal against Napoli. He also has 2 assists. Milan have had a poor start to the season but I think these stats show that Alberto has done pretty well.

He's not coming back. As much as some of us want Alberto to come back and show us what he can do, I feel Milan will buy him in the summer. It's a massive shame because we never got to see what the lad could do.

Joe Cole: Joe joined Lille for the season in August. He has played 7 games for the French side and has 2 goals and 2 assists. Joe has done well in France and has settled in nicely. His goal against FC Lorient was top-notch.

I always liked Joe. When he came to us last season, I thought he would be an excellent signing. Getting sent off on your league debut didn't help and after that he looked poor. We all know his wages are very high and with our range of midfielders, could he come back? If he plays well in France, you never know.

Stephen Darby: Stephen Darby joined Rochdale on loan at the start of the season. He has played 18 games this season and hasn;t scored. He has made the right-back slot his own and has been a solid addition to the Rochdale back four.

With the current competiton for places at right-back, I can't see Darby staying. We've got Johnson, Kelly and Flanagan fighting for one position and I cannot see Stephen getting a look in. Would expect to see him moved on.

Nathan Eccleston: Nathan has also joined Rochdale. He joined them in the week and made his debut in Rochdale's 3-1 defeat against Exeter. He scored on his debut but it wasn't enough to gain the three points.

Nathan is a difficult one. He has a lot of promise but hasn't broken into the first team. He has played 9 games for us and hasn't scored. He also put out some tweets regarding 9/11 which didn't go down well. He's got a contract until 2013 so he is highly though of around the club.

Peter Gulacsi: Peter was sent out on loan to Hull City for the season. He started the first 4 games of the season but a couple of errors meant he was dropped and replaced by Adriano Basso. Peter hasn't played a game since.

We sent Peter out on loan to play matches. He isn't. I think we should recall him and send him to a club which he will play week-in week-out.

Dani Pacheco: Dani was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid and they sent him out on loan to Rayo Vallecano. I know it's confusing. He hasn't scored for them in his 4 apperances and seems to be struggling.

What's gone wrong?! Dani was hailed as a bright prospect and hasn't fulfilled his potential. I don't hold high hopes for him now. It's a shame as I like the lad and felt he could have done well.

Jonjo Shelvey: Jonjo was sent out on loan to Blackpool to play games. He's played 4 games for Blackpool and scored on his debut as Blackpool beat Bristol City 5-0.

I rate Jonjo. I feel he can come back to Liverpool and push for a first-team slot. Getting games at Blackpool is crucial for the lad because we know that Ian Holloway plays good football and this will help Jonjo.

Thanks for reading. If I have missed anything, please point it out and i'll add it in.

Very good read. I agree with most of you're points. Especially the Stephen Darby one, we simply have too much talent in that department now so unless he is going to learn how to play left-back then I don't see a place for him in a fullback slot at Liverpool. Also, the Gulacsi one is a weird one, I always thought Championship is too high for him anyway, I feel a loan spell in a League One side would have been more beneficial. With Pepe, Doni and Jones all able to play between the sticks, I think it might also be time for him to pack his bags too.

I think Gulacsi is a good keeper. I asked the Hull fans in September what they though of him and I was stunned by what they said. I think the problem was that Peter didn't install confidence in the back four after he made a couple of errors. After these errors, Hull replaced him with Basso who is more experienced and Hull have gone on an excellent run since. We need to recall him and find him another club. Sitting on the bench won't help the lad progress.

Great, alebeit depressing, read. Any mention of Aquilani makes me angry. Both him and the way the club treated him the summer before last makes me so annoyed. But that's a different matter for a different thread. Anyway, great read <ok>

    1. Johnson will eventually need replacing as he isn't quite young anymore (though he will endure around 5 more seasons). Our right side is this: Kelly/Johnson as first choice and Flanagan as cover. I think one more would be beneficial. That being said it would require a huge step up from Darby.

    2. Reina won't be around forever, Doni is 32 (yesterday was his birthday) and Jones is not quite someone i'd like to be a first choice goalkeeper <yikes> . We need to get a young talent like De Gea or Szczesny. Gulacsi is young, talented and definitely needs to be kept around with Hansen for the next generation.

interested yes but also have been watchign so know the socre.

If you want my opiniosn then i think the in some places match the op.

eccleston needs 5 chances to get one so i think he's one to show the door to, he's a wide boy to and elayed signing a new deal when he could have got a few games so was not used.

Pacheco has not learend about hard work AT ALL so i'm not shcoked he's not setting the world alight. As he's stepped up in age groups he's looked less and less special which basically is what separates him from suarez, work rate.

Cole is in a league that most players would score in so i put no store in it. he's there to reduce the wage bill. same for aquilani, he can chuff off home as to be honest he came over and never bought into moving countires and his agent is a mouth piece.

Darby point is fine, we all know he's been bypassed so i hope he gets a good career going like warnock did.

Finally... gulasci, I agree his loanis a waste of time now so obviously he should be pulled out of there and given another one.

    A quick update for you...

Joe Cole got the final goal for Lille as they came from behind to beat Lyon 3-1 last night. That means he has played 7 games and scored twice and got two assists.

The only ones out of those that I can see playing for Liverpool are Shelvey & possibly Pacheco if he really kicks on and has a good season but I think he'll be sold to some Spanish club at the end of the season. Amoo, Derby, Gulacsi & Ecclestone aren't good enough and will be moved on shortly.

Aqualani will no doubt be sold as it seems he wants to be back in Italy which is a shame as I think he could have done well here, especially now Meireles has gone, and I think we'll get rid of Cole due to his high wages & age.

    He is!

Scored both goals last week when Blackpool beat Doncaster 2-1. Also played well on Saturday but Blackpool lost 2-1 to Forest.

Nice to see him doing well.
