    Set for new legislation:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22800755

I don't suppose this makes much difference to Watford, the Pozzo family will just make the transfers as they see fit.

What does anyone else think to this? Is it a bit like locking the door after the horse has bolted?

Just going to make it more difficult to get the players over.

If they still want them, they will get them transferred, will prob just cost a little more in paperwork.

Easy for Watford to get round this, they can just sign the Udinese players on a free transfer on a one year contract, at the end of the season they sigh back for Udinese on a free transfer.

It's just the FA trying (and failing) to make themselves look less foolish with this stupid loophole.

I still believe the whole loan system should be confined to 'emergency cover' - been one of the biggest farces ever inflicted on the beautiful game IMHO

This is taking for granted that the players would be happy with this arrangement though. Would you be happy only getting one year contracts? It makes things harder.

Thankfully the horse didn't bolt too far... unfortunately we did get trampled by it though.

Cant see players not asking for large signing on fees if they were constantly 'sold' from one club to another. Doesnt lead to a decent home life either. I would be pretty pissed off if I was a player in that situation. Think Watford will take what they can, and that would be it.

With their transfer embargo on them the football League have to ratify every signing Watford make

Would they allow them to do this?

If no 'rule' is contravened ... yes.

Excuse my ignorance but that sounds a little bit like the way slavery used to be. Surely the players would have some say.

They will not be looking for this. They will just make sure that no Bassini type situation is occurring with the transfer. Every transfer will get ratified. It's a toothless embargo.

I would be surprised if Udinese simply did free-transfers between the clubs every season. All clubs need to generate income, with one of the major sources of income being player transfers. If all they do is swap players for free they could put themselves in difficulty, particularly where FFP is concerned - they would have to reduce their spending dramatically if they are losing out on sales.

I think that these changes could see the end of more clubs. Small clubs in the lower tiers often cannot afford to buy players, so they heavily rely on the loan system. If they are restricted in the number of players than can bring in on loan they may not survive

Which implies we voted for it too <ok>

We were fully prepared for this, but to be honest, we were never going to do the same anyway! If you have a little read below, the reason we had so many loans was because the ownership transferred so late in the window that we didn't have time to bring in any players - loaned or scouted. If the takeover had gone through earlier, many of those players would have been transferred already.

    http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...rule_changes_will_have_no_impact_on_Watford_/

We don't know who we will sign yet. The owners have said we can have who we want, but obviously only the players who want to come will, but many ofthe players (regulars, that is) seemed to enjoy their time here and have given them an opportunity for first team football. You just have to look at the footballing history of Anya to see why he would jump at the chance to move permanently

You may also be pleased to know we have signed our first player already. A young keeper from DC United, who goes into our Academy. Now the scouting network is up and running for Watford, expect more youngsters coming in from all over the world!

Work with a Watford fan who's a level headed guy ... he rates him and so do I tbf ... first goal in play-off semi was top drawer technique ... I think he's going to be a real star.
