With our experience of last season, I'm glad that signings to date seem to be permanent. I'm sure one or two signings on loan will be necessary to 'pad out the squad' but with certain comments from MM and Gethin I don't think we will be overly dependant on them.

Agreed on permenant singings. Also make better business sense long term, provided the signings are good. Assets to sell and all that.

On a side note, am I the only one who rates JET? He definitely wasn't at his best for us, but to me the guy's got real class and ability. He'll be a big hitter in the Prem one day I reckon.
 
DD, I think he would be better in a more structured side, which at the end of the season we weren't. If he learned to get his head up he could be a dangerous player with his pace and power. Whust needs to work on his final ball or shot.
 
I think JET was not confident by the end of the season, in and out of the team did not help.

In his last few games he looked unwilling to shoot even when in a good position.

He seems to be a confidence player and needs to be playing all the time still young be could not take the pressure IMO.
 
Agreed that JET's formed took a nose dive, but as pointed out the fella is very young.

I remember this JET quote from a few months back. It hints to a possible return, though it sounds more of a hint to a permanent move.

Would anyone consider signing JET permanently? Personally, I reckon if the price was right I'd go for it. Though I would be less interested in another loan. Like I said, a star for the future...
 
Sorry to go against the grain but overall I didn't rate him that much. Marginally better than Eddie and Ethuhu but not a lot - okay with hindsight more than a bit better. Bit of a one trick pony on the ball and did very little off it. Somewhat unusual build to be a top class footballer as well.

Could well have lost some confidence and it was probably the Ipswich game that did it with their keeper stopping him with ridiculous saves on a couple of occasions but if he was any good he should have put that behind him and moved on.

Wouldn't want him on a permanent basis - would be a real risk signing and Wenger would want over the odds for him.

Agreed BlueyBridgend - I'm afraid I never saw him have a good game.

Often flattered to deceive, and although still a very young man with obvious ability (unlike Eddie and Kelvin), wasn't a patch on Rambo's brief contribution.

OK, OK - I know Rambo's in a class of his own, but if Fabrigas does stay with Wenger.................
 
After last season it became plain to see that a worker is prefered over some player who shows a flash of brilliance when he feels like it.
It might have been the amount of loans that was causing the problem of course, whereas one or two would have to do their job in a team of triers or be easily spotted for what they are.
 
Good point there SB. A battling team of triers can often absorb a gifted young player on loan and bring the best out of him.

JET was possibly playing in the wrong environment. Not saying that players like MacNugs, Bellers and K9 for instance didn't give it 100% all season, but there were too many others who often tipped the balance the other way.
 
It can also be difficult for someone learning their trade to fit into a formation that is constantly changing. Playing as an out and out left wing (as an example) with a defined job, you can show your skills whilst knowing what you should be doing. With Whitts, Jay, Chops and Bellamy wandering all over the park it would have been difficult enough for him to know what he was supposed to be doing let alone anyone else. More experienced players can be better able to deal with that.
 
regarding loans, ofcourse a few loan signings would benefit you, as you can uncover some real gems this way, however not letting the loan signings define your squad is key, just compliment what you already have.

Tend to agree with you on JET...........but I think there is a good player in there somewhere, but if Wenger or DJ can't bring it out, well I despair of him, shame to see such potential go to waste, MM might be able to do something with him, but one hell of a risk to take with him not coming cheap <ok>
 
Yes he is young and gifted but I wouldn't take him back, there will be quite a few better than him available when the Prem boys pick their retained lists.

Just hope we don't take more that 2 or 3 loans this time.

Agreed on this. Also hard work and positivity are as contagious as much as defeatism. It looks like MM is intent on bringing in a certain kind of pro-active, grafting character. So long as the number of these type of players dominate the squad, which I think they will, then this will dictate the ethos of the squad. Norwhich and QPR were the hardest working teams last year - which meant the latter had room for a lazy **** like Taraabt.

Back on JET. The kid's only 20. I'm sure he'll be a regular for a top half Prem team withing a few years. If Wenger didn't think he had potential to maybe make the Arsenal team, he'd sell him rather than loan him out. Just my reckoning... But no he's no kid prodigy like Rambo (Who will not be coming back to us Sparky! You're supposed to be the realist on this board!).
