Just signed a contract extension excellent news for this club icon! lloyddoyley lloyd doyley i've just signed a new contract at WatfordFC keeping me here till 2013 . watford fans you're stuck with me for an extra year.
Damn, i had just read the article on the official site and was about to post it in news!! You beat me. Its here anyway. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2465919,00.html I am loving this, but cant help but realise he is not just a one club man through choice, but maybe its cos he is not the best out there and would struggle to get another club lol.
I thought he was one of the best players on the pitch v. Forest (though that probably says more about the performance than anything else). Love him or hate him, he's a great one-on-one defender as well as a great professional and one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet. Glad to have him at the club for the rest of his career... unless Real Madrid come in with a £50m bid obviously
For information the other players due to have their contracts run out are: >January 2012 >Tom James > >Summer 2012 >Martin Taylor >Josh Walker >Troy Deeney >Rene Gilmartin >Stephen McGinn >Michael Bryan >Chez Isaac
A true Watford hero. Never lacks effort. He reminds me of the forever present Duncan Welbourne, but Duncan got 25 goals so come on Lloydinjo there's still time
Doyley must have played what, 350 games now? It goes without saying that he'll break the goalscoring record, but is Blissett's appearance record also under threat?
They were talking about him on Talksport today! They read out his tweet and said that that's just the kind of player you want in your squad. Not a prima donna, just someone who is proud of where he is, and happy to play hard and as a member of the team. They were really bigging him up...i was so proud!
It seems a bit of a low-key testimonial season. I can understand that there won't be any details of a game as yet, but there has been no mention of any events at all. I presume the club have actually granted him a testimonial, not done what Sir John Madjeski did a few years ago with Graeme Murty and refuse one on the basis of his salary.
It will probably ramp up after Xmas! Normally I would agree with Sir John, However I do think loyalty like he has shown should be rewarded!
I don't think the Madejski situation is applicable here. We're talking about a player who has stuck with us through not one but two genuine threats of administration.
