Following from the rumour about LVG putting together a £50m package (cash and players) for Harry Kane from Spurs. Could Lloris be heading in the same direction, if as mooted De Gea ends up at Real Madrid ?
It's true that we lost our best players in the past but those days have now fortunately passed. There were tangible economic reasons why we had to sell our best players in the past, but buying the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil tells everybody that we're now able to compete in the transfer market with our rivals.
It's true that having paid off the stadium debt and consistently being in the Champions League the last 15 odd years means Arsenal can attract top players and they have been spending more than we are used to seeing over the last few years. The fact that Arsenal have never and will never pay Man Utd/Man City/Chelsea transfer fees or wages means that, dare I say it, the PL ain't going to North London anytime soon.
No one can be thick enough to pay £50m for Kane. I simply refuse to believe that can be true. Lloris is probably in the top four keepers in the league along with Cech, Courtois and De Gea so it would be a logical move.
I'm not bothered if we lose Lloris for the right money, since we can spend it on areas that we need to strengthen. We have a very able back-up goalie in Vorm, anyway. As for Kane going to United... no chance. Not unless United are going to offer the kind of money to enable Poch to go out and buy the finished article (because Kane certainly is not the finished article, yet); and if United were prepared to do that, surely they'd buy the finished article themselves. I don't mind a good wum, but a very poor wum let's us all down.
I think it was £50m made up in cash and some deadwood that Utd want to shift. But the Express are reporting that it will be a straight £50m bid. I agree he's not worth anywhere near that at the moment. He's only had 3/4 of one season where he's shown that he's top level. I think he needs at least one more season showing the same form before a big club come in for him. That said, Utd seem desperate to splash some cash this summmer and Spurs could make a big windfall on Lloris and Kane, although their track record for reinvesting the money is dire, having wasted the Bale money on the likes of Soldado etc. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/583945/Harry-Kane-Tottenham-Manchester-United-transfer-news
I hope he is going in the same direction as Kane - which is nowhere. I think Lloris will go, but not Kane in a million years. Except even the rumours weren't about £50m cash, it was Nani, Januzaj and Hernandez. So 3 players that are worthless to them. Maybe £50m + Hernandez would get Mr Levy's attention.
Get his attention? For £50m+ Hernandez he'd be piggybacking Kane up the M1 if he had to. Kane might turn out to be a player but for now he's a kid who has had less than one great season.
I agree he isn't worth that in any objective way, but it is what he is worth to us. To have the possibility of having a top striker coming through our academy (only a chance) would take a lot of money to give up on. And what is he worth - £20/30m? Would that be enough to replace his goals in the current market?
I love the way that the wums forget how hard Levy is when it comes to negotiating! The idea that we are going to let any of our players go to any rival club in the Prem for any kind of money is utterly laughable! Contrary to popular wum-opinion, Levy never wants to sell his best players; and if the player insists on leaving, Levy will only ever sanction it if the poaching club pays him a ludicrously large sum of cash. You only have to look at Levy's record on this to know it's true: Berbatov, Modric, Keane, etc. So, in order for either Lloris or Kane to leave us, let alone to United, each player would have to put in a transfer request, and only then would Levy, reluctantly, begin to deal with the poacher, and a deal would only be struck in the event that th poacher paid far more than the player was worth to us.
