Do any of you agree that if there is any chance at all of signing this player we should move hell and high water as I believe he would guarantee us a top four spot and is the perfect fit for us up front, only problem I can see is that he may want more than £800 a week!!!!
I've said for ages now that Llorente should be a player we should move for. Perfect lone striker that I think would fit our system easily.
getting him for under £800 a week could be tough tbh. But yes, we should be going for him. My only worry is whether he will adapt. I think i'm right in saying he's a Basque lad playing for a Basque team with lots of other Basque players. I'm not thinking of a different player am i? I'm wondering whether it might be a bit of a culture shock for him and whether he just might not adapt, a bit like Reyes (although Reyes' problem was he was just unbelievably stupid)
He's valued at £28m - in other words, him being benched at the Euros has knocked £7m off his value. See, not playing strikers can work for us!
Can't see it happening, too expensive, wants CL football and richer clubs will probably be in for him with him going for free next summer. It's a shame Rossi's injured for the rest of the year because he'd have been fairly cheap.
the more I think about it, the more I feel AVB has to have in mind to use Bale as a an option for cental Striker, He has said one more player would do him for the year, that would mean Defoe as impact player, Kane as youth option + New striker to complete the set
We need two strikers, simple as, if AVB thinks otherwise, then he's as much to blame as Levy if we don't get them in. Of course, I might be wrong, but time will tell, etc.
Llorente, Ade, Hernandez, Defoe. Wouldn't that be something. Maybe replace Defoe with Carroll. Then Kane as a prospect.
Excellent player, but no chance of us signing him. £28m for a player with a year left on his contract, who'll want to push for a starting place in the Spanish side and would command a massive wage? Sorry, but I really can't see it.
I'm not sure of the source, but i've seen it mentioned alot on here that he has said he is happy to go into the year with Kane and Defoe as his options, or happy to start with Kane, or something to that effect. I could well have got the wrong end of the stick of course.
Ah, he said he would be happy with 3 strikers, although it's unclear whether both Defoe and Kane are in his plan.
Agreed. And Levy would love the thought of buying a 35m player for less. As long as we don't spend 25m + that could have bought Ade/ Lorrente etc.
How on Earth can any player have a price until they've moved and a (relatively arbitrary) price is agreed between two clubs? Is this a stated value from Bilbao? Player's don't wander around with price tags on. Are you basing this figure on some website that claims to value players? Is it actually accurate? (Genuine question - whilst I can't see how it could be maybe the prices they quote actually turn out to happen when transfers go through. Or maybe they just get changed as transfer speculation swells and figures start coming out in the press).
As I recall a few days ago there was an article on the Mail website with a headline saying that AVB was happy to play Kane or something. But the "article" contained no quotes, no facts as I recall and this thrilling story of how a youth player might indeed play for his team was no doubt repeated on other internet football "news" outlets. I think the Mail might have just noticed that we have so strikers.
Here's the article in question: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-convinced-Harry-Kane-leading-Spurs-line.html Absolutely nothing at all to it whatsoever. Total arse-water. Always worth at least scanning an article for quotes rather than simply reading the headline. The headline is often 100% fiction.
