Incidentally, coming back from my mates in Roker this morning, all the pubs seemed to be open by 10.30.
The Howard Arms, Jacksons & T Wheatsheaf all appeared to be open.

I have to say mate, it's a real body blow whenever I come back to the UK .......... all those wonderful pubs boarded up with aluminium.

They bleat on about derelict churches & Victorian follies but the pubs are a part of our culture that's being wiped out.

I could ****ing cry at times.

I always drink down Hylton Road. Once upon a time you couldn't get moved, now they keep closing down & being took over by new management only to close down again a few months later. Sometimes the city centre is like a ghost town on a night. Crowtree is now just a derelict shell & will more than likely stay like that for the next couple of decades if the Vaux site is anything to go by.

I don't know what it is Smug. I think the major pub chains have decided for the punter what they're gonna have.
On the other hand, the great howf pubs have gone to the wall & been demolished.

Last time I was back I took our lass to Knaresborough on the Friday night before the match ....... there's a pub on the bridge called the Yorkshire Lass that was always heaving.

I was looking forward to it 'cos it was always full of weekenders, locals and daft coach trips visiting Mother Shiptons Well.

    Boarded up <doh>

Almost grew up in the Hunt Cest. Closest thing to the 29 I've ever been in.
I once saw a mass brawl there one Sunday night with about 30 men involved.
Can you remember that woman bouncer with the lace up dealers?
Scarey lass but canny all the same.
Blue Boar used to be good too, only pub with a ****ing chip shop in the middle of it.
Wouldn't go in now as you're liable to get stabbed.
Happy night's out in Stanley & battling with the mags, lol.
