Lee Johnson explains why Leeds United are the perfect opponents for Bristol City
The Robins head to Elland Road after the international break.

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson believes that his side's trip to Leeds United is the 'best game' they could have next after their latest defeat to Preston North End.

The Robins went down to a 1-0 home loss to the Deepdale club on Saturday to make it three consecutive defeats and fall down to 13th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

An international break now follows before City make the trip to Elland Road to take on a Whites side who will be reeling from their 4-1 away defeat to West Brom on Saturday.

Johnson said: "I think Leeds away is the best game you can have now.

"You’re the underdog and we seem to play very well as the underdog and not very well when we’re expected to win. Sometimes it’s cohesion, sometimes it’s tactical.

"We did risk a stretched game today to try stop a good side and win a home game. It was a positive side. You play 4-3-3 and everyone says, “You’re playing one striker up-front”, so we had three in midfield which we needed, because we haven’t got Korey Smith and that bite - he puts out fires for us.

"We’ve got good footballers in there but they’re not as mobile as when Korey’s in there."

City were off colour at Ashton Gate as Johnson's charges toiled against their 'bogey side' and the boss admits that his team were nowhere near good enough as he apologised to fans.

He added: "The frustration for me was that we didn’t even lose playing our way. Credit to Preston - they were dogged and they’ve got a midfield that’s got speed and bite and agility.

"The game got stretched, we got stretched, they stayed compact and, of course, once they scored it played into their hands. I’ll take it on the chin, I’ll apologise, because I don’t want Bristol City fans seeing a performance like that and that’s all I can do.

"It isn’t a disaster because we’re 13th in the league, but that’s the bit that hurts more than anything because the international break is coming up and if you win that today, you’re bumped up to 7th or 8th and a point off the playoffs or whatever it is. Now we’re in no-mans land. We’ve got to get a spirited performance.

"The next one at Leeds has to be spirited. I’m quite glad it’s away because we’ve probably got a better chance of getting something away from home, for whatever reason."

Huge demand for next home game.

Tickets for home fixtures at Elland Road are once again proving to be in demand.

After going on general sale on Monday, over 32,000 tickets have now been snapped up for our Sky Bet Championship fixture with Bristol City on Saturday 24th November (3:00pm) and fans are advised to purchase as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The North and South Stands, along with all corners of the ground have now completely sold out.

The majority of tickets remaining are in the East Stand Upper, with a very limited number of seats available in the East Stand Lower and West Stand.

The Whites have an incredible recent record against Bristol City, having won nine of the last 12 meetings, losing just once.

Last season the Whites beat Bristol 3-0 at Ashton Gate, whilst at Elland Road fought from two goals down to draw 2-2.

It's not about 1 or 2 games, it's the lack of joined up consistent selection and set up.

We might easily win, after all it's the Championship.
I remember us going to Leeds in '74 and nobody in the game gave us a chance against then, one of the best teams in Europe.
We beat them 1-0, but the huge difference back then that fans could see the team were on the up. We were promoted shortly after to the 1st Division proving the cup game was no flash in the pan.

Now, sorry I just don't see it.
