Mentality the key for ten-game run-in Thursday, March 28th 2019 Head Coach Lee Johnson says his players “have to go for it” and play without fear as the season end creeps closer. City head to promotion-chasing Sheffield United this weekend (Saturday, March 30th, 3pm KO), their first match in the Sky Bet Championship following a two-week break due to international demands. “The players had a much-needed and deserved rest,” Johnson told BCTV, previewing their upcoming trip to Bramall Lane. “Some of them ventured all over the world, to Dubai and various climates, others stayed at home and enjoyed family time. It was good for everyone to refresh and now we go into a ten-game season. “It’s been a good week with a lot of football with short, sharp stuff. The key is to make sure they have belief at this point. There’s nothing tactically I can teach them, technically they can’t be improved much so mentality is the key and we have to go for it. “There are a lot of teams panicking in this division but we’re not one of them. We’re embracing what should be a fantastic last ten games.” City will be backed by more than 1,200 travelling fans this Saturday and the fixture is pay on the day. Tickets go off sale from Ashton Gate tomorrow at 2pm (Friday). Meanwhile, tickets remain on general sale for City’s trip to Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening (April 2nd, 7.45pm) with just over 150 tickets sold to date. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/mentality-the-key-for-ten-game-run-in/
Famous words, I hope LJ is correct. “There are a lot of teams panicking in this division but we’re not one of them. We’re embracing what should be a fantastic last ten games.”
Squeaky bum time for all concerned because if we should lose our next 2 matches our hopes of you know what can be put back on the back burner for yet another season. Let's just say we disappear in to oblivion regarding aspirations of the playoffs what are the thoughts about retaining Lee for next season - someone had to ask the question because it will arise soon enough? My thoughts on this subject are somewhat confused and yet I want better than the usual mediocrity served up by Bristol City and for us to stop apologizing for who and what we are.
Honestly don’t see us picking up points from the next 2 games, by then the play offs will most likely be beyond our grasp. Obviously would love to be wrong.
just finished "calculating" and 6th team will likely need 72 -73 points so we need 6 wins can afford to lose 4! [Based on form who played who over the last 15 games ]
I am not able to see into the future anymore the flux capacitor has worn out … I will elaborate .. just finished "calculating" and 6th team will likely need 72 -73 points so we need 6 wins [ currently on 55pts so add 6 wins x 3pts = 18 equals 73 pts ]can afford to lose 4! [72 /73 pts is ]Based on form who played who over the last 15 games 8 TEAMS ] what happens between tonight and end of season is anyones guess … simply on paper the 8 teams fighting for 3 places do play each other a few times and the easiest fixtures seem to favour Midds and Derby and WBA who play DERBY LAST …………!
Do you think we will get another 6 wins between now and the end of the season, I’m aware you don’t know, as your flux capacitor has worn out, but what does your instinct tell you?
I have believed for over a half the season that on our day there isn't one side in this division better than us. On JGF2's prediction league I cant remember when I last thought we would lose and I now believe, sincerely, that we are very close to being a side that could storm into the Prem. Only time will tell of course!!
So how many of you clever clogs expected anything from this game. Be truthful and how many expect anything at Boro. Trouble with City they are either hot or cold. Just shows playing two up top makes a difference. I hope Johnson keeps it for the remaining 9 games. Why because we need to win as many as we can. Fantastic result today But is it to late, time will tell.
