Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini has died after collapsing on the pitch during a Serie B match at Pescara. The player fell to the ground half an hour into the match after suffering a heart attack. Italian media report that the 25-year-old tried to get up at first but failed. Medical staff attended to him on the pitch, before he was stretchered off and taken to the nearest hospital. He arrived at the hospital in a pharmacological coma and doctors fitted him with a provisional pacemaker but he could not be resuscitated. Morosini, a former Italy U21 international, is currently on loan at Livorno from Serie A side Udinese.
