I heard on the news that Arsenal, Spurs and Watford are the only three Premier League London Clubs (Watford, London?) which don't officially pay all their employees - even sub contracted staff - the London Living Wage of £10.55 per hour. I wonder how many Championship London Clubs have committed to pay all their workers that rate. Is the information about that available somewhere? And do Charlton Athletic pay it - or have plans to pay it in the future?
Would these clubs have any say in how much the sub-contracted staff are paid? The company that does the food/drinks is completely separate no? Funny how football clubs seem to do this to all the non-playing staff. I have a mate that does Palace's marketing and they pay well below the industry standard.
I assume the Football Club would tell the sub-contracting company that it won't use them anymore unless they pay their staff the London Living Wage. Presumably this would be done when contracts are up for renewal. Something like that anyway.
Because it's bad public relations presumably. Arsenal are utterly shameless about grossly overcharging their fans for season tickets. Have been for years. But they get very touchy if somebody suggests they should pay their stewards properly.
