Train smash on the way? This is simply unsustainable (isn't it?) and frankly its not the top boys that will suffer (though ultimately the economic model says they have to too), it's the lesser clubs who catch a cold from the fall out of these ridiculous wages. Nonetheless an interesting article and quite thought provoking and from our perspective this part of the article is highly relevant... "the Championship is 'a league of real contrasts'. Relegated clubs from the top tier receive the financial cushion of parachute payments, but many others in their league are feeling the pain of the tough financial environment."

You're always going to get richer and poorer teams but the advantage the relegated team receive is ridiculous and completely unfair.

It should be compulsory to include a relegation wage drop or relegation release clause into contract for all premiership teams. Just giving teams millions of pounds when relegated is papering over the cracks

A big chunk of that debt belongs to Pompey! I don't really think 700m is a huge amount of money. Split it just 24 ways and you get 30m quid. Some will have less, some will have more, but that kind of debt is sustainable. If they improve on that figure then even better.
