So while 19 (and if you can think of someone i've missed out on please say it) players is not a lot and we have 3 over 21's out on season long loans (darby, cole, aquilani) we have 7 players who are u21 what anyone would say have first team experience and are reall challengers!

Kelly is 21, not sure if he counts for u21. Same with Henderson.

I think the rule is that they were 20 before January of the year or something. So Henderson counts as under 21, not sure when Kelly's birthday is though. Doesn't look like we will have any problem with naming 25, more like 20.

Kelly was 21 in April so he counts as under 21. Had he of been born before 1st Jan 1990 then he would have had to of been included as a homegrown player

What is perverse? That Adam counts as foreign? I guess so, although imagine if Rangers and Celtic ever got their way and joined the English leagues- that would be a complicated mess to sort out who belongs to the domestic league and who doesn't.

Good news is- looking at that squad- there is no-one there who doesn't belong.

The only two question marks would be Maxi- who is great when great- but terrible when not. (would have preferred to sell him and keep Aqua or Raul). and Aurelio- who has to be aging quite a bit now. Still, neither of those names would make me cringe the way a Konchesky, Traore, or Nunez would have in previous years. We could play with both Aurelio and Maxi in the squad and still be better off in those positions than many of our opponents.

Good quality in depth... I'm happy. Seriously- if they're our weakest links we're in good shape.

milk you are right, the welsh thing is weird. the english league can claim english and welsh as homegrwon but not scottish... I suppose beacuse there are clubs like swansea and cardiff floating about.

I think your point that nobody "deosn't belong" is important, everyone should be able to get behind that squad without shouting about how muck n'gog is for example ;)

Maxi, aurelio they certinaly would be the guys you'd pick out but they are useful enough on thier day..

Others have explained the jan 1 2011 debate for being less than 21 so i don't need to... suffice to say the players in the u21 pool have all played more than 5 games for the club so..... they are as good as a senior player in most regards....

finally yes wisdom, coady and sterling have squad numbers but i deliberately left them as "list is backed by others with less first team experience" as they all have to make a break through. we won't be counting on them.

For now i'm more looking forward to the next games than the next transfer window.... thats a good thing.

You're correct, It's England and Wales because we have welsh teams in the league.

Kenny has already explained why he let Aquilani go. He couldn't fit him into the team. Kenny drew up a number of different formations and none of the suited Aquilani. He had a number of good games, however he had one stinker and that was the most important one and what sealed his fate.....it was against Hull.
As for Mereiles, well he left for some unknown reason. I'm convinced he was tapped up by Chelsea, so I wish him the same success at Chelsea that Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres had.

tapped up is the exact thing i thought..... chelsea have form, villas boas will know his agent.... in other words how do you agree terms and a medical while in cyprus... come on raul admit you had it all agreed and lfc forced you to give up your contractural bonuses by making you request the transfer.

for me if he's that easy to get to after seeing all the adulation out in the far east (that he himself made out he was blown away by) then he can chff off.... he signed for hodgson for god's sake! did he thing CL was a sure thing <laugh>

good riddance to the non commital.....

fernando traitor probably told him how great it is at chelsea as strikers only need to score a goal every twenty games or so - meireles as a midfielder could get by on a goal every couple of seasons
