Utd got more momeny last year by being flops in CL than we did for getting to a final.

This is how it has always been folks but the money is stark... we will have a 60-70 mil hole in our revenues compared to the clubs in the CL this year. We are losing out on 20-30mil revenue this season

And people wonder why LFC didn't spend hugely last summer....

Europe is VITAL to us, CL is very hard to attain but it really does push us on.

the chart above shows the gap over the last 5 years from having 2 (and now 3) years not being in europe!

It is VERY clear that this league is cut throat and that top 6 doesn't even include everton, southampton, west ham (who throw europe each year crazily) We simply have to be top 6 but we are seeing prior years were our club goes 7th and 8th

Thank god for klopp.. the best thing FSG did for our club.

The BT deal is huge. We have to get back in the CL. Simple.

    any europe would do....

I remember when europa was 7 to 10 mil money max compared to 30 for cl.

yes the bt deal is huge but is likely one of and to be replaced with multi company deal but money wont go down.

the gap this money creates from 6th place to 7th place is significant but it really puts west ham basically deliberately throwing the qual rounds in europa in context.

here we are desperate to improve while they get a europa slot and toss it away thinking small time. we are now at the top early on and they are at the bottom with manager complaining about complacent players

And that's why [almost] everyone is focussed on finishing top 4 rather than cups.

And came to within 90 mins away from qualifying for CL. It's definitely not to be sniffed at.

nope. we made most of it at round of 32 from TV pool. Its clear you can throw the comp after that point and taker your haul but long run the coefficient points are vital

Its pretty clear than in a ranking

top 6 is better than a cup in money terms (assumes one cup goes to top 5 clubs and passes spot down
League cup is excellent for getting a europa spot early and allowing a good run at league. its on early so you can get to SF like LFC without much effort.
FA cup is last ditch saloon. and not worth the prize money in it. you only want a run in this if you are mid table or not in europe.
Europa last 32 round is the killer right after christmas so you want to get out of this comp once you pocket the cash

the evidence for this is in the clubs that chase the league cup. cheslea, city, us.... the small timers seem to throw this cup all the time. ahem spurs, everton...

I think thats a bit simplistic. No europe at all is disasterous. Looking at spurs progression over time the eruopa is great for development and can help gap those mid table prem clubs. with all those games and gates plsu the TV money theres a lot more wages you can pay if you are in europe.

CL is elite still. theres 6 clubs going for 4 slots now. 2 WILL be big losers. but i'd rather lose and end up in europa than lose and end up 7th or 8th AGAIN. thats going nowhere.

i think its a false premise that no europe = great thing. its not. its a bad thing... period. yeah a small squad can over acheive but that is only ever going to be a transitory thing. We need to succeed over time not one season in 5.

There's around 12 teams in the league that don't have Europe - they rarely ever win the league.

there could be 7 plus a fair play award so yeah 12 teams get left behind in revenue but none of them every make up for it by out performing the top teams barring those top teams go into a period of transition or lower standards

basically southampton have floated about 7th/8th etc just like us who have been recovering from G&H bankruptcy. they did an amazing job just to get there but have not been able to progress further. Everotn have gone up and down.

You need to think big and take actions to be big to actually compete. these clubs don't... they just don't they sell up players left and right and can't retain them they chuck competitions and they talk a good game but don't throw up new stadiums etc

FSG are marginal when it comes to all of this. New main stand is nice but pays for itself in 3 years easy and its gravy. they sell players, we don't yet chuck comps but we could have lost to spurs and did in effect chuck the FA cup last year and ended up ****ing the elague when we should have gotten 6th min.

LFC must back klopp big time, must build a new anfield road end (must hear by end of this year or planning lapses) must redevelop ground and must do better than edwards as our sporting director

    Ambition is the word.

And I do believe FSG have it. They are just more methodical and cautious in their approach as opposed to gung ho style of the Chinese/Arabs.

We now have a quality manager, bigger stadium, improved commercial deals and a structure at the club.

Utd wont get any money from Mkhitaryan's shirt sales. Like all other top clubs they've forward sold all shirts as part of the supplier deal. Why do you think the likes of Adidas are willing to pay £60 M a year for shirt deal. They get all the money from the shirt sales.

He's just mocking the Man Utd fans who claim they make all the money back.

A guy in the pub genuinely told me that Man Utd made the money back on Pogba in August through shirt sales.

Who gives a ****, the fact is we make a **** of a load of money and can afford to spend it where we want (cue jealous posts on spending for Pogba that means **** all to our financial clout. We could spunk 5 times that amount (and probably have) and still be swimming in money) and you all know it.

Btw the adidas deal is £75m a year ;)
