We have to consider his age and re-sale value, if he is in the plans for the next 4 years then great we keep him. If Dalglish wants a different type of player in that position then he will be sold now for good money other than in 2 years for next to nothing. We do have to find a balance of youth and experience but Mereiles is not indispensible.
Meireles was expecting a wage boost he was seemingly promised by previous administrators. If Kenny felt he was indispensable then he might've been given a wage hike to keep him. But he isn't and he wasn't. When it comes to spotting players Kenny has testimonials longer than Fergie's off-license bill so I see no reason to lose faith, certainly not based on half a season and a handful of goals.
