For the Telegraph, it's mostly about Balotelli: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...in-as-Brendan-Rodgerss-frustrations-grow.html It's the same for the Mirror: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-whipping-boy-mario-balotelli-4508265 The Guardian did at least realise City were there, at Anfield: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/25/liverpool-hull-city-premier-league-match-report The Yorkshire Post were, as usual, more partisan as regards City: http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...0-0-hull-city-tigers-hold-liverpool-1-6917020 The Tigers hold firm for the Star: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...-Anfield-nightmare-continues-Tigers-hold-firm It's Balotelli/Liverpool for the Independent: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-as-premier-league-woe-continues-9818076.html Reds held and Bruce's team continues to impress, is how the Mail sees it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Bruce-s-continue-impressive-start-season.html Again, it's all about Balotelli and Liverpool for the Express: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...h-report-agony-at-Anfield-for-Mario-Balotelli
Thanks Stan. Typical one sided reporting as expected bar the YPost. Thought one of them might have mentioned Lpool had two of the England teams midfielders in and City managed to nullify them. Also could have highlighted Brucey tactics were spot on and Rodgers were not. Sadly they missed that too. Mostly we were reduced to a bit part in the Balotelli show. One of them even got a Humberside reference in. Finger on the pulse as always!
Fairly expected wouldn't you say Stanners? Like it or not, Liverpool are a big club in England, and in fact, around the world. Balotelli is also a big draw for a lot of people. Them being held at home against us, as opposed to us holding them away makes more sense from a media perspective. We're now starting to be seen as a good value mid table team, even the nobber on R5 Live said that yesterday.
I see it as lazy journalism HT. They just go for the easy option in front of them. Anyone could do that.
If true (and there's no reason why it wouldn't be) then that doesn't surprise me at all. I thought yesterday was his best game of the season, he was really good defensively and kept things neat and tidy in midfield.
It's not lazy, it's just appealing to the majority of your audience to sell more papers, quite sensible really.
Yes I thought he looked better, only one stray pass from memory, that 50/50he chickened out of with ducking Coutinho of all people! And that terrible shot after Ben Arfas majestic work to play him in.
No, sensible journalism. Their job is to sell papers so they write articles that people want to read, simple as. If you want in depth tactical analysis don't read those papers, that's not what they are for.
Same as the others I guess, the majority of PL fans want to read articles criticising Ballotelli at the moment.
No doubt we tend to be overlooked by some, but that low flight off the radar feels quite good, right now at least. We are four points from heaven and four points from hell, I'm content to take this ride in a nice quiet, understated way - even though we have just taken a point each from two BIG away games. We'll keep our dignity and our composure and then, when the walking wounded return, we'll step it up. I recall 2008 all too well; I watched the Sunderland game in Lanzarote, they burst our already fragile bubble and the media gave us all of the attention we didn't want. We need to graft like we have, right up to Boxing Day when we can set that result right and then kick on with a confidence we will truely deserve. This has all of the makings of a great season, let the media catch-up in their own good time.
I like Lanzarote. The scenic 'countryside' is out of this world. The national park is a good day too. Nowt like a good old bit of volcano grilled chicken.
Is that the MeAlanPartridge one, Chazz? There are some good ones (and also some clueless ones) there.
Spurs fan: But that's not how football works. Who's to say that if the Diame goal had been disallowed for the pull on Flamini that Arsenal still would have got a 2nd. There's a world of difference between being level at 1-1 and leading 2-1. If the goal was disallowed, Hull might still have fancied their chances of snatching a winner and might have not sat back as much, inviting Arsenal on. Last week, Spurs could have drawn 4-4 if we'd converted our chances, we could have lost 6-1, or 5-2, or 5-3, etc. The end result of the match is the end result, no matter what anyone says. You have to give credit to Hull for going to the Emirates and Anfield and picking up two points. It's up to the home teams in this situation to find ways of getting past a resilient defence. Liverpool and Arsenal both failed to do that, despite having far deeper and more expensive resources at their disposal. When Hull come to WHL I expect the usual tough game they give us. They're a very decent team, very well-organised, and very tough to beat. Steve Bruce has done a very underrated job there in turning Hull into a very solid Premier League outfit who tend to frustrate the hell out of the bigger sides.
The tactics were great but taking Diame off with 5 minutes to go just increased the pressure on the defense I thought, this time it didn't cost us.
What's the readership of the Yorkshire Post in Hull I wonder. Isn't it mainly a West Yorkshire paper? Whenever I've seen one it's all house adverts with hardly any journalistic content I'd want to read.
Diame was exhausted. He tried to make a run a couple of minutes before being brought off and he had nothing left in the tank to reach the ball and basically gave it up. The substitution made perfect sense. I don't know if the TV highlighted this moment but the attempted run happened right in front of me at Anfield.
