Not expecting anything from this at all, but hoping we can at least get a point. I know the final 3 games might be superfluous for a lot of people, but I want us to at least try and cling onto 2nd place (as unlikely as it might be now with City's fixtures vs ours). Our overall form since the West Ham game has been a complete disgrace. Need to restore some professional pride in this side. Can't just let the season totally capitulate. And contrary to what some may think, psychologically, it DOES make a difference if we finish 2nd or if we finish 5th.
I would say it would be interesting to see how the top two teams in the league play given the match means nothing to either of them. But actually, that means it will be the opposite of interesting. Just fast forward to the summer transfer window already, that's the next football related news to become interesting for Arsenal fans.
There's no real jeopardy, but I hate seeing us lose games, so I don't want to see us end the campaign with a whimper. It would be very, very disappointing if we end up slumping down to 4th/5th.
Reports on social media that Rice hasn't travelled with the squad. Well, I guess that's our hopes of getting a result from this game out the window.
My god, this is an absolute battering. We're getting absolutely torn apart. Newcastle must be licking their lips watching this, they're going to kill us.
The fact we're thinking about giving some of these players a new contract is absolutely insane to me. Trossard, Partey, Martinelli...none of these guys deserve a new deal at all.
FT. 2-2. It ends a point a piece. Would have taken that before the game given how emotionally and physically taxing the past two weeks have been, and would absolutely take that after we went 2-0 down, where I feared we were going to get absolutely battered. Much improved second-half performance and good fightback. Shame that Merino got sent off because I thought that we could have maybe won it in that second half. To be fair, Odegaard almost won it at the death. But wasn't to be. We need 1 point from our final 2 games to secure Champions League now. I'd say we should be safe now for CL qualification. Only issue for next week's game is that Trossard and Merino will be missing. Merino's sending off was so stupid and needless. I wonder who will start up front for that Newcastle match. On we go...
Martinelli central no brainer. Hopefully Nwaneri to come in but guarantees that Sterling will get picked to start for no reason
This is what I would do also, but Nwaneri's been getting no game time recently (for some bizarre reason) and Martinelli as a CF doesn't appear to be Arteta's go-to solution normally. I guess we'll see.
Yeah Martinelli central. I thought he did well there today in the 2nd half. Looks like Trossard is out too, so hopefully like you say Nwaneri and Saka on the flanks.
