Doesn't look like there is one yet so here we go; Elmander up top on his own with Hooper dropped to the bench Sorry, but I really do despair with Hughton's tactics away from home, bring on another thrashing from the Scousers Hughton Out !
Or hooper is not 100% fit from Saturday, but it is odd A little suprised Liverpool only have one up front as well
The line up suggests 11 men behind the ball inviting wave after wave of Liverpool attack. You never go to Anfield 'expecting' to win but you do expect your team to try to do so, you never know you might even score ! Expect a cricket score folks Hughton Out !
I can sort of see the logic in playing Elmander as a single striker as his hold up play is better than Hooper's (though not great), so he works as a better out-ball from the back. Having said that, I'd have rather seen us looking to play out from the back and try to get Hooper better service through Howson, Hoolahan and Fer, who should be capable of doing so, that is, unless fitness is prevented that approach.
You serious ? We've had nearly two fecking years of this man's crap football, especially away from home and you ask that question Hughton Out !
Totally defensive, damage limitation line up. Cannot see how we will score from that team, but we will just have to wait and see as said above. I have to agree that Hughton does not help himself. A lot of mantra around getting our away form improving but nothing in that line up to suggest any change in thinking/tactics. Could be a long night.
Sorry, didn't think I'd need words of one syllable! Without finding out why he made the team change, I didn't realise you were allowed in the dressing room to hear the pre match speech!
Commentator just said " Bradley Johnson, brought in to stiffen the midfield" Ain't gonna happen, sorry.
Call me reckless, but I would have preferred us to stick with the same team and really go for it. However, if we're going to drop someone in favour of shoring up the defence (which, let's face it, even looked a bit wobbly against Palace) I have to say the Hooper is the right choice - I'm delighted he hasn't dropped Hoolahan. I imagine the idea is to try to absorb pressure up until half time, get Liverpool panicking, then sting them in the second half by bringing on Murphy, Hooper and possibly Becchio (who I think is probably a better finisher than Elmander).
I disagree - last season he was 3rd in our PotS for a reason - he was superb at stiffening our midfield. Yes, he has not reached those heights this season, but he needs game time and he should find some form again. Arsenal score quickly, which is a result going our way and we're currently nil - nil so that's good - sounds like a reasonable start!
