Ruben Amorim the new special one is going to have a first taste of Anfield on Sunday 5th January 2025. Amorim is only less than three months with Manchester United and pressure is building up already. We are not going to take Manchester United for granted, we are taking them seriously. Forms out of the window, when it comes to Liverpool v Manchester United. League position: 1.Liverpool 45 points Goal difference + 28 18. Manchester United 22 points .Goal difference -3 Manchester United at home to Newcastle United tonight and they can go above Tottenham by beating Newcastle. Game: Liverpool v Manchester United. We can't be too calm. Some of these lower half teams can be potential banana peels. We need to prepare well, work hard, and treat this the same as we would against a big team. Approach this too relaxed and we could drop points.
This has a full weeks rest before we play right? Alisson Trent quansah vvd Robertson Gravenberch mcallister Salah szoboszlai gakpo Diaz Full bore at them and then get the kids out for Accrington Stanley. Kelleher Bradley Nallo quansah tsimikas Endo morton Chiesa Jones Elliott Nunez Or some such. 3 points off utd at home is a must.
I would play Nunez in this one On the right instead of Salah When the Mighty Egyptian does one Nunez will rise Heard it here first …
They'll be determined no doubt, and should play much better than they have of late - but these games are unpredictable and could go any way. A 2-0 defeat wouldn't surprise me, but neither would a 5-0 win - it's just one of those fixtures.
Not me Obviously we should win but can think of 2 Klopp games where everyone told me I was wrong against these feckers Utd ALWAYS up their game against us Even in the 7-1 they had chances and didn’t we take nearly every chance we had I am More nervous now
No prior games between the clubs should be used as guides to this. Slot will have a plan for this lot. They are wobbling badly and lack leaders so we need to turn the screw from the off. I think personally like everyone else they will try overload trent/quansah and will be one track about it
If United play same style and personnel then we should dominate that midfield but unfortunately can’t see him starting Casemiro Eriksen in a 2 man midfield again. mainoo came on and made them a bit more solid Sounds like from Amorims interview that he will stick with his system though so we should still outnumber them in midfield with mac grav and szobo with diaz dropping and roaming in that false 9 role to almost make a box 4
I've been impressed with our chance creation against low blocks under Slot. Man utd actually did alright against Arsenal defensively, except for on set pieces, so I think they will try and frustrate us in a similar way. My only concern is being done on the break. Quansah did have that error against Utd last season, and hasn't played much, though he did alright against West Ham.
This game is a one-off because we know that the rivalry will motivate them (or at least it should), but the state of Man U atm is dire. Ratcliffe's methods going down like the proverbial and now Amorim saying a relegation battle is a possibility - just what you want to hear from your new manager in whom you have high expectations.
I get your point here but I think Ten Hag went too much in the other direction in terms of setting expectations. Amorim and Rangnick, either side of his tenure, seem to be more realistic and maybe they shouldn't have been so public about it, but you can't fix problems if you're in denial about their existence in the first place.
Be realistic in your own mind of course, but as a leader you need to instil positivity. Making sure that everyone is realistic about the situation is one way of motivating people, yes - but I think they need the motivational baby more than "we're all doomed".
100% - the answer should be “no I believe we have too much quality which you’ll soon start to see” mad comment imo
They’re not a team. Haven’t been for a long time. Mourinho knew the culture was toxic and tried to cut it out of the club but lost. Since then, it’s become significantly worse. Amorim has a huge job on his hands. that said, they have one or two players who could hurt us. I fully expect Robbo to cough up another chance and for Trent to not stop any crosses again and for them to target our tight side if quansah plays. I also expect us to score at least 3. So a 4-2 or 3-2 result to us.
Doesn’t help they’ve just gone from 1 manager and signed 200mnworth if players to fit his style and then sacked him and brought a new manager who plays in a completely different way and wants to implement it from day 1 without having any pace at the back, no wing backs and no 10s to play behind a striker. he has Antony rashford Garnacho amad who are all wingers yet his style doesn’t play with wingers so no position for them. United need to hit rock bottom and clear out. They need to say from the top this is how we want to play and get a manager in that will play that way. Doesn’t have to be identical every time but same style where players won’t need to change dramatically - like we’ve done with Klopp / slot. If United see Amorim as the manager they have to give him 2/3 years to clear out the crap like Arsenal did with Arteta. It might mean for next few years they finish 8/10th but have to go through it. otherwise all that’ll happen is they sack Amorim in 12 months when United are 8th and hire a new manager who wants to go back to 433 and all the wingers and full backs you’ve got rid off to get 10s and wing backs now have no role to play and you go back to having to clear out again. question is, will United put their pride and entitlement if they have to be in top 4 and short term focus ahead of the longer term vision?
Certain forum members seem to be very worried about the upcoming Utd game. Let's put things in perspective:- 1. We are top of the league and 8 points clear of our nearest rivals with a game in hand. 2. We are 23 points ahead of Utd. 3. We are a well organised team who play to a system that works. 4. Utd are a disorganised group of players trying to adapt to a new manager's style of play. 5. We have excellent players for each position having invested wisely over several years. 6. Utd have a group of players who cost them considerably more than they are worth and are very overrated. 7. We have a team spirit were the players give everything they have every game. 8. Utd have a bunch of whining, lazy, overpaid players who play as if they have only recently met each other. 9. Based on the current form of each team this game should be a walk in the park for us and according to the media it would not be surprised if we inflict their heaviest defeat on them in their entire history, 8-0 would not be a surprise. Based on the above, current form, our firepower upfront, and Alan Hansen being awarded a gong today, I predict Utd will win 1-0
