Being a while since the last u21s match. I figured it was going to be extremely time consuming to find the thread from last season.

So I have started a new one.

Liverpool U21s are starting their campaign today against Southampton. If anyone is watching, lets have some updates...

They were down 3-1 and came back to tie it 3-3 last I checked.

Marc Pelosi had the screws removed from his ankle the other day, progress is always good with a fellow 'Murican.

Could of been 5-5, both teams defending pretty poorly, Southampton's goals were some tidy finishes.

25 seconds into the second halg Peterson (sp) just runs down the right, past 3 players and smashes one against the post.

Jose Ignacio Huertas Ortiz, commonly known as 'Nacho', joined the Reds from Albacete at the start of the 2011-12 season and is a player who can operate anywhere along the line in an attacking midfield role, preferring to play off the frontman.

A fine passer of the ball, Nacho can link well with teammates and has a keen eye for goal. He is popular amongst the players, has a great personality and attitude.

The youngster suffered from injury problems and as such did not feature for the U18s until the latter part of the 2011-12 season.

His competitive debut came on February 24, 2012 against Everton, and the Spaniard went on to feature in every remaining game for the side that season.

He netted his first competitive goal for the side on March 17, 2012, slotting a penalty in a 5-2 victory over Sunderland. Two more goals were to follow that season as the youngster finished the year with a tally of three goals in eight games.

During the 2012-13 campaign he will be hoping for a return to full-fitness this season featuring prominently for the U21s.

Ive seen him quite a bit and has always looked decent when he featured.....Nacho doesnt seem to feature often though which probably speaks volumes about attitude...

    Southampton 4-3 up now.

Long ball down our LB, Lloyd Jones running across with forward, went for the slide tackle as the keeper came rushing out of the box (no idea what he was doing) and Jones missed the tackle with ball squirming through everyone leaving the forward with a simple tap into the open goal.

i really hope LFC lose the "this is the biggest game" mentality which has seen young lads go mad and get sent off in spades v utd recently.

i hope they just bloody play the game the way it ought to be played.

Its going to be a hard enough game this evening. Away, and with a young much changed side from last season.

Would love it if we beat them mind you. (In best kevin keegan accent.)

Hoping Ryan McLaughlin really stakes a claim this season. Thought he'd get some preseason time.

Agreed , Kelly needs to sort that hair out!

Think he is wanting Borini and Ibe to stay sharp and Kelly obviously to see how he does as a leader.

Good for Borini to get some game time. Might tune in and have a watch.

  18. They won't get anything other than match fitness out of it but its good to see Kelly, Ibe and Borini are getting much needed run outs.

    Yup.

Wee reminder just how young a lot of our squad is. Something to remember when we criticise some.

    its young....

i have to say we have loaned a lot out and also promoted a lot... its actually good for them. the younger lads are out of their comfort zone.

should be interesting i guess but i think we'll be under pressure.

Borini would want to treat it seriously for his own good here and honeslty, morgan and ibe could do with a good innings tonight.
