I know there's a couple of games in between but for me it's the biggest game we've got in Merseyside during the next couple of weeks.

It could be hard, even harder than Stoke City away, a few key points/observations/facts.

A) We cannot under any circumstances play the high line as displayed by Arsene Wenger during Liverpool's demolition of Arsenal, because we would get destroyed. Wenger's been in this game over 20 years and got schooled by Brendan Rodgers. Brendan himself appears to have tweaked his philosophy to get it into Suarez as early as possible and to play in their pacey wide players as soon as the opportunity arises. We must defend deep whilst finding a way to transition from defence into midfield/attack and if that involves using the long ball so be it, we must be adaptable.

B) Pablo Hernandez hopefully will start in behind Wilfried again, he has the quality to play in our wingers and Wilf and can do serious damage against any team in the Premier League, often saving his best for these 'bigger' games, he took Liverpool apart in the League Cup game last season and was MOTM at the Liberty Stadium in the 0-0.

C) GM's been in his job just over a week and already does midfields better than the perfectionist, from the moment Leon re-signed in January of 2011 a midfield 3 of Britton - Allen - Scott Dobbie <ok> was always the way forward. We also lost at the Britannia 2-0 there's another thing he can mark down in his notebook, are you listening Raheen! Raheem? Whatever his name is. :cheesy:

2013-09-16 Swansea City Liverpool 2-2
2013-02-17 Liverpool Swansea City 5-0**
2012-11-25 Swansea City Liverpool 0-0
2012-10-31 Liverpool Swansea City 1-3
2012-05-13 Swansea City Liverpool 1-0
2011-11-05 Liverpool Swansea City 0-0*

*FFS Mark Gower keep it down!
**We conceded the game before we turned up.

Recent history suggests we can certainly compete with them and I'm sure GM's lads will do just that. <ok>

The trump card in all of this could be that while Garry Monk knows a Brendan Rodgers team talk inside out, does Brendan know a Garry Monk team talk?

20 quotes to remember if you want to become perfect.

1. ”It was a perfect away performance, apart from the first 10 minutes.”
2. “I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope.”
3. On Luis Suarez: “He is a real warrior of spirit.”
4. “My biggest mentor is myself because I’ve had to study, so that’s been my biggest influence.”
5. “I am not a power freak.”
6. “I started coaching for one reason and that was to make a difference for people, not just as footballers but as human beings.”
7. “When we have the football, everybody’s a player.”
8. “You train dogs, I like to educate players.”
9. ‘I think there’s three players who will let us down this year — the cause, the fight, everything – and I have written them down already in these three envelopes. Make sure you are not in one of the envelopes.”
10.”I use a quote with the players,“Per aspera ad astra”, which is Latin for ‘through adversity to the stars’.”
11. “When you’ve got the ball 65-70% of the time, it’s a football death for the other team. We’re not at that stage yet, but that’s what we will get to. It’s death by football. You just suck the life out of them.”
12. “Joe Allen is one of the most courageous players I’ve seen.
13. “I will leave no stone unturned in my quest – and that quest will be relentless.”
14. “I always say a squad is like a good meal – I’m not a great cook but a good meal takes a wee bit of time, but also to offer a good meal you need good ingredients.”
15. “All I’ll ever do is all I’ve ever done in any job, and that’s promise to fight for my life for the people of the city.”
16. On the ‘Being: Liverpool’ documentary: “It was something I didn’t watch, and thankfully it’s over.”
17. “I’ve always worked along the statistic, that if you can dominate the game with the ball you have a 79% chance of winning a game of football.”
18. “I believe a young player will run through a barbed wire fence for you. An older player looks for a hole in the fence.”
19. “The problem with being a manager is it’s like trying to build an aircraft while it is flying.”
20. ”We play with 11 men, other teams play with 10 men and a goalkeeper.”

Proper mentalist!

We have always put in a good shift playing the Swansea way at Liverpool and we have had some good results so im expecting a close game where we wont die like we did under laudrups type of football. We have a much better chance of getting something this time around and im going to stick my neck out and predict a 2-2 draw...

Some interesting points of view there, I do think that this time round we will be seeing a more vibrant Liverpool, but I have confidence in Monk and the boys to give a good account of themselves, a draw would be a good result considering the form that Liverpool have found this season, but then we really haven't hit any serious form ourselves this season, so in Monk we trust!...................<ok>

Its a difficult one. Dont think we will get smashed but when They play as they did against Arsenal they are unstoppable. But if the liverpool side play as they did against villa they are well beatable. Lets hope thats the one that turns up.

Not a stats thing, which might show a different story, but the impression I get from Liverpool, particularly earlier in the season, is that they fly out of the traps and look like world beaters in the first half before tailing off in the second half.

At the Liberty they looked very threatening first half then played like a pub team in the second period when it was kick the ball anywhere and any of our players who were in range, just to keep us out.

They have come on since then but I noticed they fell away in several games after an impressive start. If we can weather the first half storm and stay in the game, we could well get something from Anfield. IF........

The way Liverpool thumped Arsenal and Everton I can't see us getting anything. However if we play well and Liverpool are below par, we might sneak a point.
Liverpool by 2 clear goals for me.

Keep the faith even Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaardiff only lost by 2 goals. <ok>

As long as we give it our best shot, that's all we can ask for.

*Jonjo did most of the damage. : ) They really didn't create much at all.

**The Liberty Stadium crowd took over, see Steven Caulker's dreadful performance the other day.

It should be like a home game for us at Anfield anyway. <ok>

Neil Taylor or Ben Davies at Anfield?

The rest of the team almost picks itself excluding injuries* *touch wood.

I'd go with Davies at Everton btw, and at the Liberty Stadium against Napoli. <ok>

Anyone remember this guy? The slightly obese, mostly one footed Scottish Messi. The video also does not demonstrate his creative genius.

I haven't heard Darren Pratley's name mentioned since he scored from 40 yards then he joined £olton, next story they got relegated and Coyle got sacked.

Apparently he's watching Bolton's Championship relegation battle from the bench.

At least he gave him a chance in the end. <ok>

EDIT - Since watching the club 99% of home games which is only 13 years Darren Pratley is the most overrated player I've even seen to for play us , because you have to be rated to be overrated. I could't believe we were prepared to make him the highest paid player at the club, allegedly, him leaving was a blessing in disguise, like Dorus De Vries. Just my opinion.

Pratters and Dorus were good players for us during their time with us and both played a good part in our rise from the lower leagues. this is my opinion..

Unusually I have no huge feeling about the Liverpool game this time. I'd normally be prepared to cut my foot off to beat them, but for whatever reason this time they seem like any other team who I want us to beat. Maybe it's just that I have adjusted to the PL and have gotten used to playing the big names now. Maybe it's because of our respective positions in the league this season, whereas in the previous seasons we have been within a few points of them and hoping to catch them - this season that is not an issue. I just see them as points now rather than a scalp.

Dorus De Vries was a good shot stopper but was dodgy as f*ck from set pieces and corners. You could put half of his record down to Paulo Sousa's ultra defensive/Brendan Rodgers cautious tactics & the good performances of Monk, Williams + Leon/the midfield ahead of him.

And he still conceded quite a few sloppy goals like in this game

STEPHEN Dobbie involved in everything good that Swansea are doing in the game. <ok>

Honestly, I think Gerhard is every bit as good as he (DDV) is and we dodged a bullet when he chose to leave us for Wolves, Michel Vorm is miles better. That said I did like him and I wish him all the best. <ok>

Darren Pratley on the other hand I didn't rate he used to score about 4 goals a season and couldn't play a through ball to save his life, he used to 'put a shift in' I suppose but he ran toward the corner flag more than the goal, he hasn't done much since leaving the Swans anyway has he?

There's no doubt they both played their part but I don't believe either are PL quality.
