The Mirror claim that Liverpool have told Remy that heâll need to lower his wage demands if he wants to make an £8m move to Anfield. While Liverpool do need cover for Daniel Sturridge (as Rodgers is set to play him as a lone man up front), theyâre not willing to pay Remyâs £80-90,000k wages, which would be disproportionate for a striker who will nominally be a back-up. If Remy doensât make the small gesture of taking a minor wage cut, it looks like his Champions League dream will be put on ice, as Liverpool really are his last shot.

Yeah, I thought the same mate, hilarious to say the least! Saying that I'm surprised the French didn't give him more playing time in the WC. As we all know the lads a born goalscorer.
The facts show that the lad has unquestionable goal scoring ability. Equally his off field indiscretions suggest his judgement isn't his strongest attribute. Most comfortable with a ball at his feet doing what he does best. I wouldn't expect any more from him.
Fair point Sku, ability wise bags of it more than Sturridge, but speed of a race horse brains of a rocking horse!
Trouble is, that's what he is.........a goal scorer. He doesn't really have an all round game. so unless you can set your team up to play to his undoubted strengths, then it will be hard to get him into the team. Hence, possibly, why he didn't figure so much in the WC. A lot of teams play with one forward these days and he isn't a lone striker imo.
I just think that boy will score in any (realistic) system Col. Sure he probably can't hold the ball up like Charlie can, but his sheer pace, positioning and eye for goal more than makes up for that in my eyes. Frightening talent for hitting the net, 14 in 25 (I think ?) last year for a pretty ropey looking Newcastle side says it all for me. I'm half hoping this Liverpool gig falls through.
I'm in no way doubting his ability to stick the ball away mate and that type of player is worth his weight in gold.

Good for Liverpool - take it or leave it Remy, or stay here and score goals for us - I sincerely hope we don't end up doing something silly like subsidizing his wages just to get him off our books - Cesar's loan at Toronto FC an example of this (in his case to keep him away from buying gloves & practicing in local parks) - at least we got some good coin out of Newcastle for his season loan there, and he obliged by scoring a bunch of goals for them, so that was a win/win, and we still got promoted. I wonder if we subsidized the wages of Mbia, Granero (injured early, so returned), Park (now retired) & Taarabt whilst they were out on loan last season?

It's on the BBC now, looks like the mercenary, self serving bastard has gone. I always said he was crap, that goal he scored against Wigan which made my jaw hit the floor was of course a fluke. Well, it was nice to see a player of his calibre in the Hoops, however briefly.
This was likely the best outcome for all parties concerned, especially Liverpool who picked up a bargain and even off-loaded Borini for a hefty profit at the same time. If Remy was never really happy with us, it is best he has moved on - we didn't lose anything on the transaction, got him off our wage bill and even got to enjoy a few of his goals. It appears that he also has a bit of a history of "sick note" type injuries and obviously carries a few indiscretions up his sleeve.
