If thats the case he must be a decent player, and If you was him,who would you pick,Liverpool or Swansea.I can see him going to Liverpool.Top club, better wages etc.Hopefully with the Irish connection he will come here. Thoughts......

All depends really! You'd have to look at the team too. He's going to have Suarez, Kuyt, Bellamy and Carroll, not to mention whoever else is in the youth team, ahead of him at Liverpool, whereas we've got Graham and Lita who don't possess nearly as weighty reputations. I think any young player coming here knows if he proves himself to be top class, and we got a decent offer, the club wouldn't stand in the way, so you're never going to lose out on anything (apart from maybe 2 years inflated paychecks) by coming here. Come on Rory, you know it makes sense!

i hope you are right, but when i was a young lad and most youngsters would dream to play for the top 5-6 clubs. he can make a big name for himself at Liverpool, but at Swansea he would have to be an excellent player for other teams to recognize his name.I hope the latter.

I think he would go missing at Liverpool because he probably wont get game in the first team. Like Scott said there are many players in front of him at Liverpool including some hungry youth team strikers. He would get a better chance to showcase his skills and increase his worth at Swansea. The correct choice for his future would be Swansea but I suspect due to the stupidity of youth and the probability slavering agents getting involved he may go for the quick cash.

Pacheco is still there too isn't he? If they do sign Donnelly we should go in for him, he's class!

As regards being picked up, I think Shane Long and Kevin Doyle, have both shown you can make a name for yourself going to a "lesser" club. If you're young, and play well in the PL, someone will spend silly money on you at some point!

He won't get into their first team for donkeys years, if ever. With us he's in with a good shout even though he'll have to be patient for a while. Hope someone tells him that.

But I suspect he'll be won over by that scintillating Dalgliesh personality. <laugh>

Posted on here before Knackeredjack? Under a different name? There aren't too many people who can pile so much scorn into so few words <laugh>

Are you knackered as in tired or knackered as in 2 broken legs?

i would pick Swansea if i really wanted to play premiership football next season. at liverpool and everton he will be lucky to play in the reserves. but if he wants to be part of a big club on better wages immaterial whether he plays in the top league then he will go to one of the scouse teams......good luck to him he has made the situation he is in himself and deserves whatever he chooses....

People are looking at the first team opportunities, but are ignoring the bigger picture.

It's not just wages that he would be on at Liverpool, it's a better way of living. The wages will help him live a better standard of life, and also aid him whenever he needs to go home for a short break (which is more convenient from Liverpool). Additionally, the training facilities and standard of the reserve/youth team at Liverpool is going to be beyond anything that we can provide. He'll be able to watch closely and learn off some of the best players in the world, train with some of the best youth players in the world, and do it all at purpose built, private, world class training facilities.

If he wants first team appearances as soon as possible, we are the only option really. But the fact is that his development would probably be better supported at a club like Liverpool. Would love him to come to us, and it depends what he is personally looking for from any club that he moves to. Fingers crossed!

I'd pick Swansea if I was him , not only because of our ambitious chairman , but because of more opportunity in the long run .

aye, there's a lot of pluses with liverpool, but our youth turned them over 3-1 recently and our reserves play at the same level!, so for all their resources and world class youth player's it is'nt really making them any better, also the standard of living for any pro footballer is way beyond adequate, so choosing one over the other would'nt really effect his living standards, at a smaller club like swansea you'll have more intimate training and coaching, at a club like liverpool he'll probaly get lost in the masses. i can see where your coming from, but hopefully someone with a bit of sense will have a word with him.

liverpool have just signed a couple of 16 year olds. they have a great set up that allows them to sign these young guys for the future and i think thats where this Irish guy will go as he will get the best training in the world and if Kenny can persuade him there is no rush because he is so young to play in the premiership for a couple of seasons then he may choose them, his advisers if they are any good would urge him to do that....

Depends what motivates his "advisers", Dai. It would be hard to argue against Liverpool but, as has been pointed out, he could be lost in the deluge of signings they make - far harder to make the first team there and start earning the big bucks. Small fish in a BIG pool.

With us he'd be a small fish in a small pool and likely to make the first team far sooner - assuming he has the ability. With that would come more money; the shop window and a chance for a big money move to a top 6 club.

if he is as good as people say then why would he get lost in the deluge of signings, he would impress surely, and if he does not shine then we would have saved us a few bob, Liverpool have the best of the best and i would choose them if i felt confident of my ability. he may be that good that he may be another George best and fly up the pecking order at Liverpool.......I would love him to join us but as a realist i understand if he dont. he is at Liverpool as we speak and im sure he will be a guest of everton to see the match with us.
