Liverpool are said to be weighing up a move for QPR attacker Adel Taarabt after a succession of scouting missions led to reports issuing high praise for the Moroccan international. The former Tottenham man has shown an improvement in form in recent weeks and Kenny Dalglish is reportedly ready to make his move for the young playmaker. The Anfield side is looking to continue it’s policy of bringing in youthful additions to their squad as the Merseyside outfit makes plans for the long term and Taarabt may well fit the bill nicely. The 22 year old had an astounding season last term when he helped take the Loftus Road back into the top tier but had a shaky start in the QPR’s first season back in the Premier League since 1995/96 and after a few scraps with Neil Warnock it seemed like Taarabt was likely to push for a move with rumoured interest in his services coming from Napoli and PSG. However things seemed to take a turn for the better when the West London side axed Warnock and brought Mark Hughes in and over the past couple of months a return to form from the adaptable attacker has coincided with a good run of form that could help keep QPR the right side of the relegation zone. Liverpool had been linked with interest in Taarabt last summer, with the club’s former director of football Damien Comolli said to be looking to re-unite with a player he brought to Tottenham back in 2007. A bid was not forthcoming but Dalglish is ready to re-ignite interest in the talented flair player this summer, a prospect that may become easier if the Super Hoops don’t manage to stay up.
Thought we had until Monday until all this crap started. Think Adel would have communication problems in Liverpool. He would have to learn the language that only Kenny 'protecting a poxy racist is more important than ethics' Dalglish speaks, with 81 vowel sounds.
I'm sure he'll be off somewhere this summer. Just hope for his sake it's somewhere he'll get regular games. Won't be too happy warming benches imo.
Think he has a year on his contract left. We either have to tie him in to a new one or sell this summer. I'm sure MH will have this on his list of things to do on Monday morning. Hope he stays, he gives us genuine excitement and unpredictability, and I reckon would add more end product in a more settled second year in the Prem. But I have never warmed to him as a person ( at least the public side of his personality). If he goes I hope we have a list of realistically affordable creative players.....
too early, too early. Monday looking forward to these, we can discuss with the luxury of safety who will go and stay and what we need for next season until then irrelevant I think.
typical pre-match destabilising journo. There's no obvious truth in this, and it could have waited until Minday, but then when has a journalist ever done things properly?
Well if Liverpool rated Carroll at £35 million, then surely we're in for the highest transfer fee ever. I think he likes playing under Hughes, if we stay up then I think he'll stay.
Is Liverpool really a step up? He'll either go to a top club (and then out on loan) or go to warmer climes.
It is a huge Club so in that sense certainly. But you're right Matt, it certainly isn't a "top" Club anymore.
Thinking about it, he wasn't even born last time they won the league. He needs another year like the last 4 months to round him as a player and establish himself capable enough for a much better team than that - he'll end up a wasted talent like Ryan Babbel keeping a bench warm depite obvious talent.
Most overrated player in the league, no wonder that dumb Jock Dalglish is after him. Expect a bid of around £25m next week.
