Werner: Liverpool FC is not for sale and FSG are plotting a bright future
Reds chairman says there is no chance of them selling up amid talk of Chinese interest

“I have said repeatedly this club is not for sale,” Werner said.

“I don’t know how many more times I can say it. I am saying it today and I am emphatic about it and that is all I can say.”

Werner is looking to the future with relish following the official opening of Anfield’s new Main Stand on Friday. He believes the facility, which is expected to generate an extra £25million per year, will help Liverpool in their quest to compete for silverware.

The stadium dilemma was an issue FSG inherited when they bought the club six years ago and Werner is proud of what’s been achieved in redeveloping Anfield. He will take his seat in the directors box for Saturday’s clash with Leicester City, alongside fellow FSG chiefs John W Henry and Mike Gordon.

That's it isn't it? They could be telling the truth or simply bartering. Never believe a word that is said nowadays.

So where's all the £110m sponsorship/partnership revenue been going Tom?

Former Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton believes current owners Fenway Sports Group will be weighing up when to sell the club despite the incredible recent success at Anfield.

In the last year the Reds have lifted the Champions League trophy, become champions of the world and are now seemingly just days away from winning their first league title in 30 years.

Broughton played a crucial role in selling the club to FSG back in 2010 for £300million when the Reds were severely struggling in debt under the ownership of George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
