Is was suggested that the 'oldies' amongst us pass on our memories. So I thought I'd kick that off with a few vids about the city itself. So this is a space for anyone who wants to recount memories of Liverpool.

My earliest memory was being on a beach as a very young boy. We'd gone up to visit family and ended up on a beach and I was kicking a football around and it went over a very large like puddle. It had jellyfish in this pool and it scared me when I had to negotiate my way through to retrieve my football

That'll have been New Brighton DR, unless it was Crosby prom in which case it wasn't a jellyfish it was a used condom.<whistle>

Does anybody remember seeing the abandoned railway station in the sandhills behind the beach at Southport. Can't remeber if it was Ainsdale or Sandhills or where?

Was that Southport Lord Street? It went from being a train station to a bus station. That was something seeing red buses in Southport, ours were always green.

Why? Liverpool Corporation buses were green. Crosville buses were green. Only Ribble buses were red I think - and they were stuck out of the way at Skelhorne Street.

Red buses as a child you knew you were on your holidays they were a dull green in Liverpool and have always been green except for a short spell in the 80's when they were burgundy coloured I think when Arriva took over.

Don't remember that one dave although we never got to Southport much as kids.

One man buses - the first time single deckers were used in Liverpool, paying the driver seemed weird.

  17. Did you not know you was on holiday anyway? <laugh>

Obviously I'm taking the piss. Buses have been various colours for as long as I can remember around here. We do have a fair few bus companies too though.

A bit long and the commentator can best be described as 'dry'. However, it does tell you a lot about the Dockers Umbrella. Strange to think that most of you will have heard about it but never seen it!
