There are some quality players in that market that I have inquired about. The make-up of the group will change before the season starts and that will change the dynamic of the team also." Any one you would like to see on loan? Could Affelay be one he's inquired about?
The bits and pieces I've seen of Affelay havn't impressed me,but this is exciting news for the coming weeks.Aqua's departure seems to be just the start. Nice to hear some re-assurance regarding Agger and Carroll.
I just can't think of who else we could get of "top quality" on loan? Trying to think about the big teams and who has been allowed to look around to be loaned out.
I'd be gutted if you got him but glad there is quality in the league. I rate him and always buy him in FIFA if that counts for anything?
I'm not keen on loans. Okay, they would make us stronger this season and possibly help us push on. However, how can you take another step next summer player the players that helped to make the difference have left and you need to replace them? Loans temporarily improve the side but leave the club at a stand still.
Think why players go on load. To gain experience. To rebuild fitness after injury. (Villa?) To rebuild after a poor spell in their career. To increase value. They are struggling to get in the team, but could be involved long term. If we got loan deals and improve, or even better, get champions league, with them in the team, we can invest more seriously next summer. Successful loans for bigger clubs include Adebayor to Spurs, Joe cole at Lille, Anelka with us.
Loans can be useful if the player is of the required quality and if the loan is with a view to a signing. It all depends on who it is and is he good enough to get in our first team.
The rumours have been circling around this for a week or two now, wonder if it'll happen. David Villa?
Yeah,Villa would be incredible. But if he was match fit why would Barca loan him out for any amount of time? They will want him firing on all cylinders at the Camp Nou surely. Can't see it happening.
The thing about Villa is that there is a (twisted) logic to it - he's just had a bad injury, Barca were open to selling him before his injury, and they want to see if he can get his fitness back now, with a view to him playing for them or selling him (they need money).
