Michael Owen took great pride in showing off his prize racehorse to Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin.
The former Liverpool and Manchester United forward has enjoyed great success with Brown Panther over the past 12 months.

The England legend landed his first winner at Group One level, winning the Irish St Leger at The Curragh last September.

And Hoops star Austin took a trip up to Brown Panther’s stables on Wednesday to check out the six-year-old horse.

Owen posted on Twitter: “Showing Charlie Austin the big man, Brown Panther, at Manor House Stables.”

Presumably next on the agenda was Owen’s medal collection.

Austin has been touted as a potential England call-up following the 25-year-old’s impressive return of 12 goals in 16 Premier Leagueappearances.

Productive morning at Manor House stable with @themichaelowen for @excelracing1http://t.co/jKaWWVrY6Fpic.twitter.com/sss8MQf9PT

I presumed Charlie was there to drop off Bobby and Rio so they can be put out to pasture.

No, I think Evostik has put in bids for them, but face competition from Pedigree...

I'm glad we've finally got an interesting story about Charlie. I for one am bored of all this running around on a football pitch kicking and/or headbutting a ball in to a net nonsense. I'm very happy to hear that he's looked at a horse. Finally.
Does this SocialSpy have anymore groundbreaking stories?
Has Zamora gazed at a dachshund?
Has Clint glanced at a duck? We need to know.

Just to clarify, this isn't a pop at YappyR but it's amazing that a website called thesportsreview feels the need to publish stuff like this.
