I am sure that it hasn't passed you by but the improvement under the direction of an astute manger has done wonders for Liverpool. After our success last season I wanted nothing more than to see SC develop Bristol City in to a well rounded club that could survive at Championship level but unfortunately it has become increasingly obvious that it isn't going to happen.

If we are looking for a new manager soon when do you think it will happen and who would be a the top of your list? Don't you think it's about time that we went out and got the best, rather than settling for 2nd or 3rd rate choices?

I'll start the ball rolling with the suggestion of Brendan Rodgers, so let's hear your thoughts on who you think can turn our sinking ship around rather than aground? Look back at our managerial record and tell me we haven't always gone for the cheap option as opposed to the right choice.

I say stick with SC for the remainder of the season. Yes as a CLUB we underestimated the task financially of competing in this league, but we just need to accept that this is a far harder league to compete in than it was last time we were here.

The parachute payments are even bigger now, and there are 10-15 teams with recent Premiership exposure, setting them up financially and also increasing their exposure to fans, not to mention those that have historically been bigger footballing clubs than City, thus attract bigger crowds and revenue.

If we survive this season and by Oct next season there is no obvious improvement (assuming there is money for SC to spend in the close season) then it is time to call it quits, but not yet. There are far too many knee jerk reactions in this division, and if you notice almost all of them (except Leeds) are from teams recently in the Prem and floundering, so naturally chairmen are worried about bouncing back immediatly so make changes thinking it will change the situation, the truth is though that it rarely works.

Have some faith in SC and the board for gods sake, yes it's frustrating, but knowing our level and where we should be aiming is key, I think some fans on here need to look at their own expectations of where City should be right now and change them. not just continually call for the managers head!!!

The faith has not totally been lost but the time is upon us and not on our side. Without major movement in the upcoming transfer window, which by definition is usually a mad over priced free for all for marginal players, we are doomed, and I just don't see that mindset at Bristol City.

I wasn't going to be that brave and I don't think the boardroom has changed enough in the interim for him to be a candidate, but I get your drift.

If you don't see that mindset at City why call for the managers head? Because what's changing, a new manager given a budget and so forth in 18 - 24 months it happens again.
In order to see a good manger you give them time a great manager is the one that can bring you back from being on your knees.
Also given the money Brendan Rogers was probably on at Liverpool would you expect him to consider someone like us?

We need someone with Premiership contacts and BR would fit that bill, so if he could bring in some current fringe players from his former clubs on loan until the end of the season and then build from there he could be ideal. Don't think it could happen but that's the kind of manager we need to possibly take us forward, but something has to change at our top level for us to make the right choice this time because nothing else has worked.

    SC for me too.

It wants the bloody board to get their heads out of the sand, realise what is going on the peril we are in, and ensure we can bring players to the club in January who can do the job of keeping us up.

I don't care if it's a team full of loans for the rest of the season. We need to maintain Championship status at any costs and then do the job properly pre-season 16/17 as it clearly wasn't done for the start of this one !!!

Can you explain what you mean by "develop?"

    And

    And "a well rounded club?"

Neither make sense if the Manager is going to be a sacked after nineteen games of a season.

Fans on this board didn't get Sean O 'Driscoll and so deep thinkers like Rogers would have heads exploding..

All some put forward is more chop and change spend and spend chop and change spend and spend.

Bombed on this one EH. I was just asking the question because I truly do not believe that any money will appear in January for SC and he may walk. Sorry I missed your endorsement of Cotterill smhbcfc - oops on me.
