Suarez has helped Uruguay reach the semi-finals of the tournament currently being held in Argentina - matching the stage they reached in last summer's World Cup - but that run will delay the 24-year-old's return to Merseyside for pre-season training. By reaching the last four Uruguay are guaranteed to either play again in the final on July 24 or the third-place play-off the day before, meaning Suarez would have just three weeks at most to prepare with Liverpool for the start of the Premier League season on August 13, when the Reds host Sunderland. Liverpool assistant manager Steve Clarke is hopeful that the club's squad - greatly bolstered this summer by several major signings - will be able to cope with Suarez's absence from the big kick-off if necessary http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/19072011/58/copa-rica-liverpool-fear-late-suarez-return.html
not going to lie though, as disappointing as the Copa has been, it is refreshing to see Uruguay coming back into the uppre echelon and teams like Peru and Venezuela coming into their own. top stuff! Also will Paraguay get over that pretenders hump?
I agree with Chris. Don't rush him back. This does highlight the fact we need a back up striker. All of a sudden we have just Carroll, maybe Kuyt.
I was actually hoping Argentina would knock them out so Luis could come back early. Selfish I know but im all about Liverpool me. On a side note, what a cack tournament.
We managed without Gerrard. We're not a one-man team. If Suarez comes back with a medal, even better.
He's fit as ****,he will have two weeks off and be refreshed and recharged and then will terrorise premiership defences. If he misses the first game so what.We have enough to see off Sunderland at home...They are managed by a ex Trafford..not a good manager and they are going to be captained by John O Shoite.
