Liverpool have been drawn against Hearts, while Newcastle will face Greek side Atromitos in the Europa League play-off round. Liverpool are due to travel to Tynecastle on 23 August, with Newcastle heading to Atromitos. The return legs are scheduled for 30 August. The winners of the two-legged games will join Tottenham in the group stage. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19209166 Good draw for us we should have enough over 2 legs.
It's only Hearts. I've seen five-a-sides that play better than the teams in Scotland. *waits for a bite.
Its a good draw for the simple reason it means we don't have far to travel before the visit of City on the sunday. We may not have to leave as many players out of the EL game as obviously the game on the sunday is of more importance. We could throw in a few fringe players and still have too much for them.
It could have been a lot worse. The trip to Edinburgh is a lot better than the eastern block. I'd expect us to play a 2nd string side away and win the game at Anfield
Spot on. There is at least 3 sides in the SPL better than Hearts. I can actually name them, Motherwell, Hibs and of course Celtic. A weakened side should easily collect a 1-0 win, A trip to the Eastern block before the visit of City would have been an utter nightmare.
Hearts should be a win- I wouldn't take them too lightly though... and of course there are easier options... personally, I'd rather see us playing someone more exotic... but Hearts it is. I'd be surprised if BR played a "2nd String Side" - may not be all first teamers- but even against lowly Gomel Rodders played a fairly strong team both legs. True we'll have Premier League started back then- but I think he's going to want to gel as many as the first team as possible.
Obviously haven't followed Scottish football for a while. Hibs are one of the worst teams in the league. Liverpool should have enough to take them easy but as has been found in the past when English teams play scottish teams they don't gte it all their own way. Ranger Leeds, Man united Celtic, Man United Rangers etc. Having said that Hearts are not good and neither is Scottish football so a 5-0 aggregate win should be about right.
Liverpool have confirmed the dates for the Europa League play-off round with Hearts. The first leg will take place on Thursday, August 23, at Tynecastle Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm BST but this is subject to a slight change for proposed live TV coverage. The return at Anfield is on Thursday, August 30, with an 8.05pm BST kick-off.
I knew this already...I didn't bother to post it because it was a bit too 'on topic' for me. #Iliketotalkshit
