and they are on fire, 14 goals scored in their last 3 games, can we keep it down at Anfield?

This is only the second "big club" we take on at their place - the first at Chelsea went to form, but it was far from the thrashing that the 4-1 scoreline suggests. In fact, until they got back in the game with that gift goal from blatent ref cockup with the rules of the game, we were very good value for the 1-0 lead. Even up till their third went in in the last 10 minutes, it could have gone either way.

Liverpool will be a much harder game though, and in reality, the same scoreline as at Chelsea would be a reasonable return for us. Rodgers has got them up for it this season and I expect them to go close to the title.

We've still got to face the other 8 in the current top 10 away from home, from Arsenal down to Swansea. If we get half a dozen points from the lot, we'll have done very well. It's our home games we have to worry about from now on in - that's what'll keep us up. Counting on any returns from games like next Saturday would be nuts.

Having said all that, I'd still like to see us play a wider game with the likes of Noone on the pitch - playing narrow and trying to stop the ball getting through to Suarez and Co. isn't going to work.

We have to expect them to score, but we must trouble them with the thought that we might as well.

having Noone on your team won't do any good, you should at least have a keeper tbh.

glad we have you at home though, early goal for us and it could get messy for you. no easy games anymore and I expect you will be organized well but hopefully not for the whole game. :)

I hope we keep the score down to below 5. Malky will want to keep he score down and I suspect we will revert to ultra-defensive mode which would be a shame. The odds of us winning are long so if we can play with a bit of adventure and a have-a-go attitude I will be happy. I doubt anyone expects us to win at Anfield so why not play attacking football, we may just surprise ourselves :)

But we have got to play 8 of the bottom 10 at home so it's not all bad news

    That's the good news. <ok>

Didn't say it was bad news that we've got to play the "elite clubs" (plus Swansea <laugh>) away from home, just that we shouldn't expect miracles against them.

It's the home games coming up now we've got the likes of Arsenal, Man City, Man U, Everton, Newcastle and Spurs (plus Swansea <laugh>) out of the way that will be the make or break of our season.

If there are still 8 to 10 clubs with a real chance of staying up/going down with the January fixtures out of the way, I'll back us to stay up no problem.

I still think we can stay up and if Malky gets the 3 players he wants in the January transfer window then I will be even more confident of survival.

I think we will stay up anyway. Why he wants another striker though, really does beggar belief.

Keep it tight, don't play a high line and certainly don't over commit. West Ham did this for about 40 minutes, till Demel put it in his own net and then the flood gates opened.

Most of the good play goes through Coutinho and Suarez, get in and amongst our midfield and cut off their "supply" and you might get some joy. Also, as a team we don't defend set pieces well, again, score early and quiet the crowd and get a lead to defend then the mood might change.

The WOL headline states a striker but the article actually says an attacking player not specifically a striker. A winger maybe?

Chelsea are a better team than Liverpool.

I think Liverpool will win probably by 2.

I thought we had no chance v Chelsea. Liverpool I see as beatable. They were all over the place at set pieces in the CC Final at the end.

Getting those corners etc will be the difficult part.

We drew with Everton and I see them and Liverpool as similar teams ability wise.

We are talking about right now not history. You can't judge them on that CC final performance 2 years ago. Liverpool are a far better side this season and will be close at the end AND finish above Chelsea unless Mourinho finds another gear.

Chelsea better than them? No way, not this season - they're stuttering form needs pulling together like Rodgers has already done. We could have beaten them on the day at SB.

If we get anything from Anfield, it'll be the result of the season so far.

How convenient that this is seen as a strength with us. Still can't see anything but a loss though.

I think Liverpool are a far better attacking side than Chelsea and more so in the past few weeks but you could get some opportunities at the other end It could be a game where Marshall has to perform heroics again.

the only hope you got is that liverpool do have a shocker from time to time but as said our ex manager has done a fantastic job up there and have turned the club around in a short space of time. They are not quite there yet but next season i can see them as title contenders. the obvious player that you will have difficulty stopping is suarez as he is head and shoulders above anyone else at the moment but they also have others who can find the net this season...Just go there with confidence and believe you will get something and you never know it may just happen...

They have the best player in the league and their movement was Arsenal'esq' against Spurs.

They are currently much better than Chelsea who by mourinho's own admission can't score enough goals.

We will not defend a high line, we will not go for it and we shouldn't. Our only hope of not getting smashed is a defensive backs to wall performance. Our only very slim chance of getting anything from the game is them and Suarez having one of those days. He was awful at Hull, but he doesn't have many poor afternoons at Anfield.

I couldn't go to Chelsea so I'm really looking forward to my first big away day in the PL even though I'm certain we're going to get battered.

After beating Spurs we need to follow that up with a home win, we have City then Chelsea away after you lot.

I think the very best we can hope for at Anfield is a draw, and that would have to be either 0 - 0 or 1 - 1 as we really do not score many away from home, due to the tactics of MM in his set up. We will start looking for a blank and hope it stays like that.
