For me, the rivalry between Liverpool and Man Utd is one of the biggest things in football.

However over the last few games have been overshadowed by two players who are taking the emphasis away from the football and on to darker aspects of the game.

I propose an amnesty between United and Liverpool fans on here as a statement of what is important in the game, which is the football. wouldnt it be nice of the players involved could then take our example and sort out their differences.

Once they have we can get back to the kind of banter that makes the rivalry special rather than the rubbish that haunts our match threads at the moment.

I know i am idealistic and it wont happen, but to be fair, im sick of all this **** and just want to talk about football.

me and my missus say horrible things to each other, but we always make up and shag like bunnys after, cos you realise what is actually important and it aint the petty arguements.

I am as pissed off with suarez today as I am with Evra, want them both to sort their acts out for the good of their fellow players, the reputation of their clubs and the good of the fans.

Rant over....Any man utd fans want to be my friend...lol

If I gave my true opinions on Suárez I would be banned in an instant.

Agree. Bad performance that got the result it deserved. And, to be fair to the Mancs, most of the Wumming is from other teams' fans.

I've been surprised by how much Dalglish and the Liverpool fans have backed Suarez, but it does deserve an amount of respect.

But now i'm interested to see how you all react to the episode today.

I sat and watched the game with a die-hard Liverpool fan today a (former Kop season ticket holder for 6 seasons). The moment Suarez refused to shake hands, he said 'what an idiot - we need to sell him asap'.

....and he's right. Liverpool and the history and image of the club are better than that and they risk getting dragged down further if they condone his behaviour again today.

I'm a Man United fan and even I am saying - Liverpool are better than this.

How on earth can you be pissed out with Evra after today?

He is perfectly entitled to celebrate with his fans. As long as he doesn't antagonise Liverpool fans - he is not doing anything wrong.

He was the bigger man. After all that has happened - he offered his hand to reconciliate.

The fact that Suarez thinks he is the victim is simply stunning.

That is because you think that the F.A. ruling is true and accurate. Evra lied and the F.A. just used it to make an example of an unpopular player.

Many Liverpool supporters think Suarez is as guilty of Racism as 'Arry Redknapp is of Tax evasion!

We're renowned for our loyalty to the club and players.

Bit mystified as to how much attention it has garnered.

Disagree, TBH. Not shaking Evra's hand was a mistake in that it's going to extend the controversy, but you can't force players to shake hands. If Evra had refused, like Rio, to shake Saurez's hand I could understand it (both players feel wronged by the other). Evra wanted (or thought it best) to shake Suarez's hand, Suarez didn't. Whether we agree with the decision is irrelevant. (I thought, like most, it would have been better if he had.)

You are entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. Needless to say, agree to disagree.

It was not an FA ruling - it was a report compiled by an Independent Commission.

In any case - I disagree. It seems that Evra was also guilty of a slur on Suarez (by means of insulting his sister) and I dont see why that should be considered any less offensive than a racial insult.

However, Suarez should not direct his dissatisfaction at being banned at Evra. By all means direct it at the FA or Independent Commission, but DONT further the episode and drag down the name of your club and undermine your manager.

Being loyal is one thing, but being blindly loyal is another.

Surely you must be annoyed that Suarez's actions means this grim episode has carried on and will surely be a feature every time these two play each other in the coming seasons?

I agree, particularly given (and I know I'm banging this drum a lot) Dalglish announced to the world that Suarez had told him he would shake Evra's hand and just wanted to move on from the incident.

To be honest I'm quite pissed off with Evra. I was fine with him just celebrating with Utd fans until I realised he was looking over his shoulder and making sure he was celebrating with the fans as near to Suarez as possible. And then when he saw he wasn't getting a reaction he ran over and jumped right next to Suarez.

It's understandable after all the implied and explicit slurs against him by Suarez and LFC, but I'd have much preferred him to rise above it, particularly after we'd won the game. Winning the game and just completely ignoring Suarez would have sent a much more effective message imo.

'Blindly loyal' suggests I'm ignoring something. I'm not. As for next season, I hope it's been forgotten by then. I certainly won't be bringing it up. Unfortunately the media is another matter...
