Fair play to him, if he wants to stay and fight for his place here then he clearly cares about the club and it means something to him. He's a local lad isn't he as well, or am I just being slightly sentimental? If this scuppers the move for Parker there could be hell to pay though, but as I said, good for him to stay and fight for his place. A bit of drive and determination wouldn't have gone amiss in our midfield on Sunday.
Yep, I'll be happy if his decision helps scupper the deal! Looks like it's all down to the cash now or another player coming our way
I would take Jenas in a heartbeat, but I doubt he would drop down. We need someone to get box to box if Parker goes, because Noble and Nolan won't!
Livermore seems really committed to Spurs. Seems to give 100% all the time and really wants to part of the team. I remember reading up about an interview he had after the Barca game at Wembley a few years back and was asked "what's it like to score against the best team in the world" and he replied "I play for them". Wouldn't it be great to hear Modric say the same :/
According to Sky the deal is nearly done. Skysports.com understands that Tottenham Hotspur are close to finalising a deal for Scott Parker. The England international midfielder has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs this summer, but the Footballer of the Year surprisingly started the season at West Ham in the Championship. Queens Park Rangers have also shown an interest, but Spurs have been in pole position to land him and now look set conclude a deal. At one point the deal looked to be scuppered as Jake Livermore rejected a loan move to West Ham, and then the two clubs could not reach a compromise agreement. With the Parker deal in doubt, Spurs put the block on Wilson Palacios' proposed deal with Stoke City - as they did not want to be left short in midfield.
I respect Livermore for his commitment and attitude towards our club, fair play to him. Have to say though, I just get the feeling he lacks the quality to make it at the Lane. Whether people liked him or not O'Hara was the more talented of the 2.
From what I've seen of Livermore I feel he needs a season in the first team now, I do understand Spurs desire to loan him out though seeing the numbers we have in the middle.
