I've just read this article on the QPR site: http://www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2478813,00.html I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it. Here are my thoughts: Somehow it seems a bit wrong for them to be making such a big deal about this girl's life and wanting so much money for it when there are children dying every day around the world. For example, the money they're looking for could save an enormous amount of children in say Africa, Asia or South America. I can absolutely understand the parents wanting to save their own child as that is natural but I just can't help thinking about how many children are dying because they don't have the basics, like food and water... and those things don't cost that much!! It all just seems a bit unbalanced to me. As soon as I saw the article, I straightaway thought that I'd rather give money to Unicef or someone who will give a wide range of help to a number of people. And I have no idea why it's on the QPR website. I think it'd be great if they did they same for the aforementioned starving children! Does anyone agree or is it just me? Sorry for the non-football related thread but since it was on www.qpr.co.uk, I thought I'd start a discussion with you lot.
the last person to ask QPR for help, were the Murphy family who wanted to able to pay for an operation to help their 7 year old daughter walk properly. Their fundraising stated in Jan and in June, little Grace had her op. She has cerebal palsy and could not walk properly, she had an op only available in the US to straighten her leg and a second to loosen off the muscles around the heel. I offered to help with providing a party (as this is what i can do) and used my contacts to help arrange a very successful event in May that raised £9k. Grace has had both ops, and when I look on their facebook page (gracemurphySDFund), one of the greatest comments which makes me smile even as I type is when her mum asks Grace what the best thing was about going back to school, and she replies being able to sit with all my friends. Grace has been a masoct at the club many times and the whole family are QPR nuts. The family needed to raise £40K which they achieved. I can appreciate your opinion, and see exactly where you are coming from in terms of helping the kids in Asia and Africa, but an awlful lot of money goes into those places via our taxes and the govt, and alot will end up in the hands of corrupt govts in those places. I do not know the ins and outs of Luna's illness or the chances of the procedure being a success, however, IF I had a child that was ill I would be appealling to everyone and anyone for help, whether it be financial aid or whaever aid I could to get my child fit and well and able to live a long life. I got involved with the Murphy family on two fronts: 1) i have a niece (almost 14 months old..and she is a little cutie) in Australia, who would or could help her IF she needed medcial assistance, and (2) the whole family are QPR nuts and for me it is like helping someone in the family
If Luna was my child I would do ANYTHING to try to raise the money. Don't have a problem with it at all!!
Here are my thoughts: Somehow it seems a bit wrong for QPR to be making such a big deal about this club and wanting so much money for it when there are football clubs struggling every day around the world. For example, the money they're looking for could save an enormous amount of clubs in say Africa, Asia or South America. I can absolutely understand Fernandes & Bhatia wanting to save their own club as that is natural but I just can't help thinking about how many clubs are struggling because they don't have the basics, like players & stadiums... and those things don't cost that much!! It all just seems a bit unbalanced to me. As soon as I saw the article, I straightaway thought that I'd rather give money to FIFA or someone who will give a wide range of help to a number of less fortunate clubs. And I have no idea why it's on theNot606/ QPR website. I think it'd be great if they did they same for the aforementioned struggling clubs! Does anyone agree or is it just me?
awjm wether you agree with type of appeal on not you either ignore it or help, but if you can't or wont help don't stop people asking for help,we had bucket collections for young Grace and you either put in or didn't.if i had a child who needed help i would appeal to everyone,
