From this list I would go for...

Jonathon Spector- versatile defender, established international, good level of experience at the lower end of premier.

David Jones- creative midfielder, willing to play a defensive role, good level of experience at the lower end of premier, successful relegation battles, glowing endorsement from Mick McCarthy.

    Any other thoughts?

I think we could afford their wages. Spector would be quite high, but still affordable.

Hi Carra, at the moment we have a very steady ship, but if we bring in some high earners, it may rock the boat <ok>

I don't think David Jones would be that expensive. Mick McCarthy clearly wanted to keep him as a back up player but he refused their contract offer. Makes me think he's interested in playing for a team where he can genuinely compete for first team football rather than wages.

West Ham released details of their players wages, didn't they.

Spector was supposedly on £18,000 a week. Wonder how that compares to our guys?

I think you are probably right- Lambert will almost certainly stick to his guns and go for the best from the Championship. There is still a little bit of me that wants someone with Premier League experience. Mind you, thats the same part of me that was pleased when Simon Charlton signed so what do I know?!

the whole 'Premier League free agents' tag makes me smile. If they are free agents then they are not Premier League. Surely to be a Premier League player you must be the player of a Premier League club? These are just guys who used to be on the books of Premier League clubs.

Wise words, KF. If they are out of contract or have chosen to move on they're only as good as the next club makes them. Imagine the distress, "I was earning £25,000 a week last season - little Norwich are only offering me £8,000".

Take it or leave it, dude, and if you're as good as you think a big money club will sign you up in no time.

Lambert's stance seems to mirror Holloway's last season and despite several of my close friends saying we need some Prem experience, I'm happy with the way things are progressing transfer wise.

Though a back up RB, a (prem class) an experienced CB and a decent 1st / 2nd choice keeper would help immensely. <ok>
