From Prem's favourite site. A list of players who's contracts are up this summer. Could be some good ones in here for us. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/spieler/vertragsende/basics_GB2.html But strangely on page 2 you have Marvin Elliott??
some great players listed, but what cut do the greedy agents want, and what wages are these players looking for? so lets see what happens
I saw this site a few days ago and it's why I started asking who was actually out of contract at City. Obviously there are less out of contract than we, the Evil Post and Transfermarkt thought because Marvin and James Wilson are shown as out of contract but no mention of them in City's retained list, which only covers those out of contract. I'm still puzzled because there are less out of contract who are leaving than we all thought. So the "clean sweep" is minimised and we still have too many left under contract who most supporters would not like to be here next season. So we'll now wait to see how many of the contracted players actually leave. As I've said elsewhere if Nyatanga and Carey accept new contracts, we still have the four central defenders who most of us believe are not good enough for any league!!!!!!!!!!
Lewis Dunk is on there. He has a few problems off the pitch but at 21 we cant go wrong. Sign him up SOD
Very interesting ROD and shows how many are looking for work and I've only heard of maybe a dozen by them and like I have said before, probably not ability but finances preclude some getting a new contract, they can't all be duff. I noticed that BASSO is out of contract and also spotted Teddy Sherringham's lad Charlie on page 2 and Chris Waddle's lad on page 4 - chip off the old blocks...? So, if we are looking for some experience to bring our youngsters along, here is a little shopping list I have compiled for a look GK - Brian Jensen, easy decision this for me - sign him on and then we don't need to worry about conceding because he's that big, he just fills the goal..! Seriously though, good keeper with huge presence and would collect everything, something badly missing over the years... GK - Steve Simonson - another big lad and decent keeper CB - Darren Purse - yes, I know - old and not the quickest but with some young legs around him, he could be a real force at the back to organise and marshall our defence, another thing badly lacking in recent years.
Shelton Martis played for SoD at Donny I know he's 30 And plus Andy Reid and lewis Magugan I have heard are out of contract
Come on guys you cannot be serious about Jensen; he is 37 for pity's sake and you know what the last old goalkeeper we had was like. Vastly overpaid and vastly over-rated. And Darren Purse is THIRTY SIX YEARS. The club will not be agreeing to sign such players even if SO'D threatened to resign over it.
All to old prem. Better out there for the same wage and younger age Magugan I would have in a heart beat but doubt he would come here, Plenty of Championship teams will have him.
I find it funny that for the past 3 seasons it has been rumoured we are going to get Marlon Pack. We have had 3 different managers one for each season. So are they all interested in him or is it hopeful fans starting the rumours.
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/spieler/vertragsende/basics_GB2.html Wow, you could build a pretty decent team from those...! Lads, times have changed and most of those I listed are facing the harsh reality of being out of work (football wise) for good - there will be no big last pay day and their demands are unlikely to be unrealistic for the chance to play another season and anyway, that age is not to bad for keepers. The whole purpose would be to help our young lads develop on the pitch and organise until they can do it for themselves so this would be for the bigger picture. Maybe not these players perhaps but wouldn't surprise me if we do something similar so don't all jump up and down complaining they are too old when we do sign one or 2 as it will be for these reasons... p.s. Danny Gabbidon at 33 is a stand out candidate for me...
S O'D did say that although we are aiming to buy younger if the right player who could help our youngsters was available at the right price he would look at signing them regardless of age but only one or two of them.
